Prep Dig Kansas was present and accounted for on the first day’s action scouting the 17-combined division.
One of the teams that had a successful weekend was the South KC Juniors 17-1 squad which finished with a 6-1 match record and tied for third.
Here is the first of multiple scouting reports from the 17-year-old age group, which did have multiple younger players “playing up.” The 17s played at the Wichita Hoops facility in Bel Aire.
This group knocked off the Chaos 17 club from Oklahoma 25-12 and 25-10 in the club’s first match of the weekend. There were two players from Spring Hill who stood out and two from Blue Valley Southwest.
Victoria Gulbrandson, 5’7”, OH, Spring Hill, ‘24
Gulbrandson is a springy young star to keep a close eye on. She had seven kills, six digs, and three serve receptions. She plays very composed and is a key communicator on the floor.
Carlie Ressler, 5’8”, OH/RS, Blue Valley Southwest, ‘24
Ressler had a nice match. She had five kills and three digs. The Blue Valley Southwest product can jump and has a solid swing.
Lexi Dunn, 5’8”, S/RS, Blue Valley Southwest, ‘24
Dunn could be a quality six-rotation player. She had three kills, three digs, and served up two aces. Dunn can set, hit, and begin rallies with quality passes off serve receptions.
Taylor Thomson, 5’2”, L, Spring Hill, ‘25
Thomson played up in this tournament. The 2025 Spring Hill prospect is a quality passer and unselfish player. Thomson collected 14 digs and three serve receptions in the win against Chaos 17.
