Prep Dig KS scouted the Thunder’s 25-12, 25-22 win over the Atchison Attackers in the Thunder’s first game of bracket play.
Multiple players still looking to sign with college programs played well in that match against Atchison.
Here is the second scouting report on play in the 18s Combined Division at the Keeper of the Plains Classic played at Wichita Hoops
Joselyn Cordero-Valles, 5’2”, L, Pawnee Heights, ‘23
This young lady is just fun to watch. She is spunky but also reserved. Cordero-Valles, a Pawnee Heights High School Product just loved to play the game and it show. She had 12 serve receptions and six digs in the win over Atchison. There were multiple times throughout a chaotic match that she was able to curb the momentum with a solid set for a Thunder kill.
Molly Murphy, 5’8”, RS/OH, South Central, ‘23
This South Central High School prospect is very athletic and can be a six-rotation player. Murphy had six kills, six digs, four serve receptions, and one block in the win over the Attackers. She has a nice swing and looks comfortable playing the game.
Carly Lang, 5’7”, OH, Hays, ‘23
Lang, a junior at Hays High School is another talent on the Southern Pains roster who can perform on both the front and back lines. She finished with six kills and six digs against Atchison. Lang led the Indians with 262 kills as a senior and also finished with 291 digs.
Tawney Korminga, 5’9”, OH, Spearville, ‘23
One of the best-hitting performances in the early morning match came from Korminga. The talented outside hitter from Spearville had six kills. She is committed to playing at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina. She should add quality depth to a Coyotes program fresh off a KCAC Tournament Championship in 2022.
