Like last weekend’s Northern Lights Qualifier, the Great Plains Region has wide-ranging representation heading to Kansas City for the annual Show Me Qualifier. It’s another brilliant opportunity to add to our Nebraska Bid Tracker that just gained three new members in Minneapolis. You know I’ll be in KC for this one, too.
So, in another reprise of an NLQ feature, here’s every team hunting a coveted Nationals bid when the Show Me Qualifier kicks off Saturday morning.
17 Open
Nebraska Elite 17 Top Gun
Nebraska Juniors 17 Black
Nebraska Pride Gold 17s
Premier Nebraska 17 Gold
VCNebraska 17 Elite
This is a momentous tournament for many of these Nebraska competitors in 17 Open.
Keep an eye on Nebraska Elite 17 Top Gun, a team that will surely be looking for some Open redemption this season. Kansas City would be a great place to make it happen. While Premier Nebraska 17 Gold is not facing nearly as much pressure with a Nationals bid already in the bank, this group can still be counted on to make some noise.
Small-town talents abound between the rosters of Nebraska Juniors, Nebraska Pride, and VCNebraska in this division. I’m particularly excited to get an in-person scouting look at Nebraska Pride, which looks like a central Nebraska superstar squad.
17 USA
Nebraska Juniors 17 Red
Premier Nebraska 17 Black
South Central NE 17 Black
A tight-knit group of three will take on the 17 USA field in Kansas City. Premier 17 Black looks to add to its club’s growing list of qualified teams, while South Central and Nebraska Juniors will give us yet another glimpse at the state’s small-town strength.
17 Liberty
Club Legacy 17 Bravo
Nebraska ONE 17 Black
Premier Nebraska 17 Red
River City Jrs 17 Navy
VCNebraska 17 Black
A full Great Plains contingent returns for 17 Liberty. This is a significant opportunity to get a full scope on Nebraska’s Class of 2024 and identify any athletes that are making a sudden charge in 2023. Look for River City Jrs 17 Navy to be an under-the-radar competitor in this division, and VCNebraska 17 Black is looking sharp, too.
Club Legacy 17 Bravo has also been elevated up to the Liberty group and has a lot to prove at Show Me. Stay tuned for those storylines.
17 American
Banzai 17 Select
Club Legacy 17 Alpha
Club Legacy 17 Charlie
Premier Nebraska 17 Silver
17 American can offer so many different outcomes with a large group of teams entered to compete in this division. Club Legacy brings a pair of teams to the fray, and Banzai will get to show off its hard-charging 17 Select squad that has already found plenty of regional success.
I’ll have Premier 17 Silver on my radar after this team made some impressive pushes to bracket play as 16s last year. It’s a slightly different lineup this time, but the goal is the same.
16 Open
Nebraska Elite 16 Maverick
Nebraska Juniors 16 Black
Nebraska ONE 16 Synergy
VCNebraska 16 Elite
Ah, the memories.
What kind of drama will these teams give us in 2023? Nebraska ONE 16 Synergy travels to Kansas City as the defending champion of this event, and we haven’t forgotten the wild lineup changes that the team needed to reach the 15 Open mountaintop. This group is now looking better than ever after securing a bid at NLQ last weekend with a second-place finish.
Then there’s Nebraska Elite 16 Maverick, which put together a magical run to its own 15 Open bid last season. Even with a new-look lineup, don’t count out this group in pursuit of a back-to-back bid breakthrough. Last weekend’s Northern Lights Qualifier was a big step forward for 16 Maverick.
We’ll learn a lot about VCNebraska 16 Elite and Nebraska Juniors 16 Black this weekend. Keep tabs on how much these two squads improve upon last weekend’s visit to Minneapolis.
16 USA
Banzai 16 Select
MVP United 16 Red
Nebraska Elite 16 Koa
Nebraska Juniors 16 Red
Nebraska Pride Gold 16s
Premier Nebraska 16 Black
River City Jrs 16 Red
South Central NE 16 Black
The gang’s all here.
This colossal group of Nebraska teams should give us plenty of storylines to follow in the Class of 2025. Nebraska Elite 16 Koa is coming off a bracket appearance at NLQ, so this is automatically a group to follow in Kansas City. Premier 16 Black was right in the mix to make NLQ’s Gold group, too.
So many scouting reports will be built through the 16 USA division, especially with this being a major recruiting stretch for 2025s. Under-the-radar athletes are bound to emerge from groups like Nebraska Pride, MVP United , and South Central. Let’s see who rises to the forefront.
16 Liberty
Club Legacy 16 Alpha
Nebraska ONE 16 Black
Nebraska Pride Gold 15s
Premier Nebraska 16 Red
VCNebraska 16 Black
Many of the same clubs we just discussed in 16 USA are fielding another bid hopeful in 16 Liberty.
Premier 16 Red and VCN 16 Black both had standout moments at NLQ, offering a launching point to an even better placement at Show Me. Other teams will be under our microscope for the first time in a while, including Nebraska ONE 16 Black and Club Legacy 16 Alpha. The schedule also has Nebraska Pride’s 15s group rising up to play in 16 Liberty, so keep an eye on that.
16 American
Banzai 161
Banzai 162
Club Legacy 16 Bravo
Club Legacy 16 Charlie
Nebraska Elite 16 Vision
Nebraska ONE 16 Grey
Nebraska ONE 16 Lime
Premier Nebraska 16 Silver
This division has a triple double-dip…if that makes sense.
In other words, Banzai, Club Legacy, and Nebraska ONE are all fielding a pair of teams in 16 American. This is another team that is packed with teams, so we can expect just about anything when play begins Saturday. Nebraska Elite 16 Vision looks like a solid bunch in this group, and Premier 16 Silver made a bracket venture and nearly snagged a coveted bid in Minneapolis. Time for redemption.
15 Open
Nebraska Elite 15 Phoenix
Nebraska Juniors 15 Black
Premier Nebraska 15 Black
Premier Nebraska 15 Gold
It’s 15 Open. Anything can happen!
Show Me features a relatively small group of 15 Open teams with the Great Plains, Heartland, and North Texas regions well represented here. On the Great Plains side, there’s a lot of motivation to make this the weekend to break through.
Premier Nebraska 15 Gold showed its prowess in Open-level competition at NLQ, and now it will look to finish the job. Meanwhile, Premier 15 Black is embarking on a new journey to 15 Open after locking up a runner-up finish and a bid in NLQ’s 15 USA field. Way to find a new challenge!
Meanwhile, Nebraska Elite 15 Phoenix will hope to replicate the triumph of its 15 Open counterparts of last year. And with Nebraska Juniors 15 Black also lurking in this group, it’s hard to make any bid predictions at this point. 15s are notoriously unpredictable.
15 USA
Banzai 15 Select
Nebraska Elite 15 Prime
Nebraska Elite 15 Xtreme
Nebraska Pride Black 15s
River City Jrs 15 Navy
VCNebraska 15 Elite
VCNebraska 15 Black
Keep growing that list!
Our learning experience on Nebraska’s Class of 2026 continues with a hefty group slated to compete in 15 USA. The pair of VCNebraska teams will be particularly notable here, and Nebraska Elite has its duo to watch. But I’ll point to River City Jrs 15 Navy as another worthy underdog that can make a run on this big stage.
