As well as a plan can be formulated it can get blown up pretty fast. While scouting the 15 Region Bid event in Lawrence all the above scenarios played out impacting my day of scouting.
So I adapted and did a little reflection and remembered I was scouting 15-year-olds, who have big plans, little plans, or perhaps no plans. The bottom line when a plan falls apart one must adapt and move on.
Here is a report on six athletes who stood out despite my change of plans.
Emma Barrington, 5’7”, OH, Olathe East, ‘26
Barrington played a significant role in PVA ‘ last=”] 15-2’s 25-15, 25-12 win over the 417 Juniors 15-4 team. Barrington had five digs, four serve receptions, and one kill. She is composed on the court, especially for her age. She will be a player to watch at Olathe East for years to follow.
Bella Saymn, 5’4”, L, Blue Valley
Saymn is a solid communicator on the court and plays all out. She had seven digs and four serve receptions for PVA ‘ last=”] 15-2 in the same early Saturday match. She has a high motor and enjoys competing.
Macie Mitchell, 5’7”, OH, Olathe Northwest
Mitchell has a nice swing and plays for a winning program at Olathe Northwest. She had five kills and plays front row only for PVA ‘ last=”] 15-2.
Campbell Loiseau, 5’5”, L, Rose Hill, ‘26
I was only able to catch one set of the South KC Juniors 15-1 team’s 19-25, 12-25, loss to Mizuno Club North 15-2. Loiseau is an athletic libero who made consistent first passes. She had four digs and four serve receptions in one set.
Siree Ridder Siree Ridder 5'8" | OH Olathe West | 2026 State KS , 5’7”, OH, Olathe West, ‘26
Ridder is an aggressive hitter and could be a six-rotation player down the road. She had five digs, one kill, and two serve receptions in the first set against Mizuno Club North.
Ellee Caldwell, 5’6”, OH, Blue Valley West, ‘26
Caldwell can jump and looks to have a bright future ahead of her. She had two kills, one dig, and one serve reception in the one set scouted.
