So, I started by tracking down kill leaders from Class 6A and decided to focus on names west of Topeka in the Class of 2024.
Here is that report on five players who were among the leaders in kills and who will be looking for big seasons as seniors.
Nina Mitchell Nina Mitchell 6'2" | MB Wichita Northwest | 2024 State KS , 6’2”, MH, Northwest (Wichita)
Mitchell finished her junior season with 177 kills for the Northwest Grizzlies. That was an increase of more than 100 kills between her junior and senior seasons. She also had 64 total blocks during her junior campaign. Watching video highlights from her club season, it is easy to notice her huge reach. Mitchell is all arms and legs and can hit the ball with authority. She plays club ball for Shockwave.
Tatum Tindall Tatum Tindall 6'1" | MB Manhattan | 2024 State KS , 6’1”, MH/RS, Manhattan
Tindall has a big swing and it’s easy to see how she finished with 183 kills for the Indians in 2022. Tindall’s long reach is what makes her dangerous. Kelley is a three-sport star who had a big 2022 season for the Derby Panthers. She finished with 148 kills and 55 total blocks during her junior season. She also plays softball and basketball. Kelley has a Hudl account for all three sports, so college coaches get logged in and take a look.
Keyona Hall, 6’0”, MH, Liberal
Hall was a leader in kills among her peers in the Class of 2024. She is also an accomplished basketball player. She finished with 147 kills during her junior season and projects as a front-row-only player at the collegiate level. She plays club basketball with Gameball 2024.
