Highlights
Hannah led Midlothian High School to their first ever Class 5 State Championship. That got her voted to the All State first team. Last year she played for Richmond Volleyball Club. She moved to River City Volleyball Academy for the 2023 travel season. Her approach jump falls just short of 10 feet. For both Midlothian and Richmond VBC she stood out as their go to hitter from the front or back row. There appears to be no weakness in her game from serving to passing to creating offensive opportunities.

If you want length in your outside Aubrey checks that box. If you want a winner to fill the roster she checks that box too. She led Colgan High to the Class 6 State championship in 2021 and got them to the finals last year. Her play got her voted to the Class 6 All State team. She played six rotations for Colgan but for Virginia Juniors a defensive specialist sometimes replaces her. She can hit from both sides of the pin. Another player that can do it all, leading her high school team in service aces and second on the team in kills and digs.
Quality middles are difficult to find. Take a look at Metro 17 next time they come to a qualifier and you will find one. Madison brings strength to the court. She jumps high over the net, blocks balls down quick to the floor and also crushes balls hard to the floor. In her early years she played a lot of basketball so volleyball is still new to her. Watch Metro warm up and close your eyes. You can hear when Madison connects with the ball. It makes a different sound when it hits off her hand and lands to the floor. Don’t get her confused with the other player with the same name that played for Colgan and Metro and then went on to play for Texas A&M. Madison plays her own game and she plays it well.
Greta Barvick Greta Barvick 5'10" | S Chelsea Academy | 2024 State VA setter (Chelsea Academy/Blue Ridge) – She plays for a small Catholic school in Front Royal, Virginia. At 5’10 she can play front row with a block jump at 9’3″. For her high school she played left side and led her team in kills tallying up a hitting percentage of over .400. For Blue Ridge she sets and plays right side as one of their primary offensive weapons. She set and hit Blue Ridge to a National bid at the Chesapeake Regional Qualifier. Just another great athlete who can do everything on the court.
Her twin sister Ryla committed to Pittsburgh. She plays middle. As a 6’5″ right side Renee can put up a pretty good block. At the Capitol Hill Classic she earned the best blocker award for 2023. Her older sister Rainelle plays for Maryland and rates as one of the top blockers in college volleyball. Blocking well seems to run in the family. Renee also brings a solid offensive game to the court. The VISAA voted her to the All-State first team. Metro 17 ranks as one of the top clubs in the country and has already qualified for Junior Nationals in the Open Division. Watch her while you can. She can certainly impact a game in the front row.
At just a little over 6’0″ she brings some length to the setting position. She can also bring some offense to the right side. Versatility is one of her strengths. For high school the Liberty District voted her player of the year. She also made Class 6 first team All State. Her blocking jump reaches 9’4″ with an approach jump at 9’6″. She sets a 6/2 for her high school team to take advantage of her offense in the front row. For Virginia Elite she sets both a 5/1 and a 6/2.
Chesapeake Chirps: There were five qualifiers over the weekend in the 14-17 age groups. The Chesapeake and Old Dominion Regions fell short of qualifying in four of them. Richmond Volleyball Club came close in 17 USA at the Big South with a fifth place finish. At 7-1 they lost only to the eventual champion Memphis Volleyball Academy. The Northeast Qualifier continues play on Monday with four teams at the 14 level still fighting in the gold bracket.
