Allie Hertzler, S, 2026, ProPlay – Giving time for her hitters to complete the many facets of an approach is something Allie Hertzler does great. Allowing for leaps and bounds from hitters takes excellent effort getting to a pass. To do this, Hertzler uses her legs and body from low to high. Her path to the net creates an expectation of a perfect pass and like any leader she is very accommodating to the realistic bell curve of results in serve receive.
Amaya Sutherland, S, 2026, UC Elite – This 6-2 setter, Amaya Sutherland, is ready with both her feet and her hands well before the pass arrives. Something interesting that also stands out amongst the popularity of moving while setting, is when Sutherland backsets. She is a setter that turns while she is setting behind her to ensure she keeps her eye on the ball.
Payton Ahlgren, S, 2026, Stingray – Payton Ahlgren makes rainbows with her sets. Each differentiating arc provides for an offense that can include many hitters. Additionally, she keeps hitters off the net. This variety certainly comes from a right foot forward after every pass. This happens for Ahlgren by taking an odd number of steps to the ball each time.
Roshini Balamurugan, S, 2026, Stingray – Roshini Balamurugan is a strong player that has minimal leg use to send the volleyball to her teammates. She is controlled and still in just enough time before the pass arrives to an X spot. Balamurugan is assertive, being a leader that teammates can count on to make every effort to set the second contact.
Precilla Williams, S, 2025, Club Solano – Precilla Williams has a great first step to the ball that is crucial in making any setter excellent at out of system setting. After that step, she reads where the ball is going and does good work with timing her momentum into setting the ball. Williams is a playful, great teammate as part of the 6-2 offense.
Gianna Veis, S, 2026, Vibe – It is really great to see a setter get her hands up quick and Gianna Veis does this with ease. She finds her middles well and is also reflective on a previous set to acknowledge continued connection with those middles.
