Continue ReadingRankings are always subjective. We have been looking at the AES rankings the last couple of weeks breaking down records and tournament play. We understand there are other systems out there but this is the only one that compiles a ranking based on entered results. So what do we do? We search the region. We then click on national rankings. Then I go down the list pinging the top-rated teams from the Heart of America region. If there is an Open level team not in the top 5, I add them at the end because they are typically a high-regionally ranked team. That’s it. So here is what we saw for 15U in HOA.
Pohaku 15-1
Pohaku has shown all year they are not only the top team in the region but one of the top in the country coming in at the 12th spot. Their 47-8 record includes a 5th-place finish at Triple Crown in February. They grabbed an Open bid at Show Me after a 3rd-place showing in the qualifier. Willow Weninger Willow Weninger 6'1" | RS Blue Valley Southwest | 2026 State KS has been on a force on the pin for the green and white.
Dynasty ‘ last=”] 15 Black
Pohaku will have company in the Open division with local foe Dynasty ‘ last=”] 15 Black. Dynasty ‘ last=”] checks in at 43rd and snatched up a bid in Texas at the Lone Star Classic. Their AES record is 50-20. They had a very respectable 19th-place finish at the loaded Triple Crown invite tournament. Sydni Lafasciasno has shown all season why she is one of the top prospects in this class.
Mizuno Club North 15 Sam
Mizuno Club North has the third-highest national ranking at 66. They have produced a 44-13 record in AES-registered events during the season. They won the St. Louis Presidents Day tournament and also had a third-place weekend at Show Me in the USA division. That finish was good enough to capture a national bid in USA. Mikayla Fox Mikayla Fox 6'0" | MB St. Pius X | 2027 MO is a 2027 middle playing up on this team.
Mavs 816 15-1
Mavs 816 makes the national ranking at 73rd with their 15-1 squad. Their 33-18 record includes a 5th-place Open finish at Show Me. They earned one of the region’s two bids to play in the National division at the junior championships. They have gotten good back-row play from Miranda Como and Maycie Martin.
Mavs KC 15-1
Mavs KC rounds out the bunch with a 53-18 record and 73rd national ranking after a busy season. They played USA in a couple of qualifiers with 5th being the highest in the AES system. They will join their sister program from the other side of the state line in playing in the National division.
