The culminating event for the CEVA club season is the Regional tournament. Taking place at the Portland Expo center across two days, hundreds of teams took the court to secure their final standing for the season. We were able to see some of the best athletes from Oregon and SW Washington compete and took note of the stellar performances we saw. We will be featuring those athletes who impressed us throughout the coming weeks.
Without further ado, here are the 2025 middle blockers who had standout performances.
Coming in ranked as the #1 middle blocker and #4 overall player for the class of 2025 is Bentley, who is a super raw athlete with a ton of potential. This season, Bentley played up an age bracket to join the stellar NPJ 18 Forefront team, which secured a 1st place win in Open at Regionals. Bentley is a powerful and impressive offensive weapon from the middle, using her height and explosive approach to put the ball away consistently. She dominates at the net not just on offense, but also defensively when blocking.
Although Elgarico is a bit undersized for a middle, she used her athleticism and impressive vertical to contribute to the NPJ Salem 16 National’s 10th place finish in Open at Regionals. As a top beach player, Elgarico is super athletic, fast, and bouncy on the court, able to move quickly between blocking, transitioning, and jumping incredibly high to detonate on a ball. Elgarico also has great court vision and is able to see holes in the court, an ability she used well to make point-scoring plays during Regionals.

Euhus is another bouncy and athletic middle blocker, playing for the G3 16-1 team. During Regionals, Euhus put up block after block, letting very little get by her and shutting down big hitters on opposing teams quickly. Euhus also showcased excellent timing on her approach, as well as her explosive attack and her ability to hit the ball straight down. She is a force both offensively and defensively.
Highlights
Hitting opposite Elgarico on the NPJ Salem 16 National team was Madsen, who dominated out of the middle during Regionals by putting up a big block that proved hard to hit around. Madsen has improved her quickness in transition, which has helped her become an even stronger attacker; that speed, combined with Madsen’s fast and powerful arm swing and ability to get on top of the ball, proved deadly whenever Madsen was set throughout the tournament.
Rose has made some incredible improvement over the course of her volleyball career, starting on a 14-5s team and making her way to the top notch OJVA 16-1 team this season. Rose is a very physical, strong player and has a hammer of an arm, which she used to put the ball away in a dominating fashion during Regionals. She is also quick in transition, which contributed well to her success as an offensive weapon this season.
Playing out of Bend is the athletic Shields, an impressive athlete on the NPJ Bend 16 National team. At Regionals, Shields showcased her quickness and impressive vertical, which she used in combination with her fast arm swing to bury the ball. Shields also has great timing on the ball and a strong connection with setter Holly Davis Holly Davis 5’5″ | S Sisters | 2025 State OR . With her quickness and height, Shields was able to put up some effective and tough blocks throughout the tournament, too.
Troche is a strong middle blocker, putting up not just an aggressive block but also hitting from all over the court to keep opposing blockers on their toes. Troche is quick and transitions effortlessly; her footwork and speed not only come in handy for her to approach to and put away any set that she gets, but also for Troche to close at the pins well when blocking. With her impressive ability to run a terminal slide and three consistently, Troche’s play this season helped lead the Athena 16-1 team to success.
