This is the initial rankings for this class as we head into the ever exciting day of June 15, where the Class of 2025 can officially talk to college coaches about their recruiting process. With our national rankings we start by gathering feedback from our Prep Dig National Scouts where we have over 20 states represented with over thousands of players in our rankings database. From there, we narrow down the list, getting feedback from club coaches around the country. This is a tool, a list, we are able to track college commits, club changes, and will lead to a breakdown of what conferences athletes are heading (and as they head into college, we can track transfer rates).
Here are seven prospects from seven states that we can take a closer look at. These are athletes I’ve seen live multiple times going back to their 15s year when they made their first big splash in the club world. Let’s take a tour of the Upper Midwest and the prospects we need to know.
1st Alliance 16 Gold is heading into nationals as a favorite in the 16 Open field. One of the top teams in the country all season, this group is special. There are four athletes nationally ranked with Abby Vanderwal as one of the top outside hitters in the Class of 2025, Addy Horner is a swiss army knife 6’2 setter/right side combo who is so smooth, and Aniya Warren who provides plenty of range as an elite libero. Hannah Kenny Hannah Kenny 5'7" | S Willowbrook | 2025 State #54 Nation IL does everything well where she is a setter/right side combo player. Her route at the next level will be very interesting because she could continue being a combo player or could put herself in the conversation as one of the top setters in her class. Her older sister, Calli is very similar in her game style and she recently committed to Marquette.
This past club season was one where Meester made herself a name as one of the top rising outsides in the Class of 2025. As a 15s, she was long, athletic and was a key piece to Adrenaline getting on top of the podium at USAV in 2022. This past season, Adrenaline 16 Doug has been playing a National Qualifier Open schedule where she has been going up against the best in the country. They really turned heads when they made it to the day three gold pools at MEQ. Meester is still long and athletic, but continues to add physicality and power to her game. She is tough to stop one on one and puts a ton of pace on her ball. There will be plenty of Midwest schools who will want to keep Meester close to home.
So smooth, so simple. Avery Freeman Avery Freeman 5'4" | DS/L Bloomington North | 2025 State #68 Nation IN is the libero for Circle City 16 Purple who is another top team among the 16 Open field heading into the summer live period. She is the leader of the backrow where this team will beat you with ball control (and plenty of firepower from everywhere along the front line). Freeman and the rest of her Circle squad knows how to train at an elite level and play against top competition throughout the country. Track records don’t lie when it comes to clubs who consistently produce high level talent who succeed at the next level. Freeman falls right into that and will definitely be one to watch during her recruiting process.
Legacy is loaded with alums who have attended top collegiate volleyball programs across the country. Their Class of 2023 has been one for the ages, led by Harper Murray who is one of the top in her class and started her career at Nebraska. The Legacy gym is accustomed to Big Ten coaches paying a visit and I’m sure plenty of them will be ready to recruit Campbell Flynn Campbell Flynn 6'2" | S Mercy | 2025 State #4 Nation MI . When I saw Flynn play for the first time as a 15s at Central Zone, I knew she had the ability to be big time. She has the size, physicality, and athleticism that is rare among setters at her age. This Class of 2025 is loaded with setters who all bring something different to the table, but with Flynn – she looks like she could step in and start setting in a Big Ten gym tomorrow. She was the AAU 15 Open MVP enroute to a national title in 2022 and will be sure to gather more accolades in her career.

Gilk is an exciting athlete who has been playing for the MN Select 16-1 squad this club season where she is a six rotation right side. With her physicality, leaping ability, and dynamic shot making she is a really tough matchup for the other side of the net. Could she be an instate pick up for her home state program under the direction of new head coach Keegan Cook? This will be Cook’s first recruiting class as the Gophers head coach and will be an exciting start to his tenure where he already has a team loaded with Midwest talent as well as USAV experience. Gilk could pick a variety of routes to go for her future, her skill set is just different.

Wardlow is another athlete who will be on the radar of plenty of Big Ten schools this summer. 6’5 and extremely physical, she can do a lot of special things as a middle blocker. When I saw her as a 15s, she had plenty of length. Seeing her as a 16s, she has added plenty of force and power where she is a big problem for opponents at the net starting with her block. She has a relentless motor where she can close and take up plenty of space with her hands, getting a touch on plenty of shots and causing the opposing attacker to think twice. She works quickly out of transition where she is available for a quick tempo in front of the setter or can be really dangerous off one foot running a slide. This group for Nebraska One has been playing together for years, always a fun squad to watch with great team chemistry.
When Madison Quest Madison Quest 6'3" | OH DSHA | 2025 State #13 Nation WI entered high school there was a buzz around her and what she brought to the court. Her 15s year she played up on the Sting 16 Gold team who qualified Open. She stayed at the 16s level this past year along with teammate Gabriella Pitcel who is also a top 50 player. What evolved for Quest over the past year was her ability to do really big things in big moments with such pose and maturity. She led her high school squad, Divine Savior Holy Angels to a Wisconsin D1 state title where all she did in the championship match was 25 kills and 18 digs in the championship match. Quest has played in some big matches, and she’s one of the top players on the court at all times. What I am always amazed with is how she carries herself around her teammates. She has such a calm temperament, but yet is such a focused terminator on the pin. What is also impressive is how she is also one of the top defenders and serve receivers on her team. She’s the type of athlete others root for.
