He proceeded to share that when his daughter was little, he bought a shirt for her that said, “Go hard or go home”. Ultimately that’s what each of these tournaments and qualifiers suggests, “Go Hard”. I see players with so much passion, talent, and skills for this game of volleyball and it shows. The hours they put in for training and practices, the stern faces at the net in an attempt to intimidate opponents, and the smiles, handshakes ,and “good game” at the end, win or lose makes writing on players so worth it. Setters, Liberos/Defensive Specialists and Middles will also be a part of this Go Hard or Go Home series so be on the lookout. Now, meet 8 hitters who go hard in their position.
Kaitlyn Foley
Kaitlyn Foley
Kaitlyn Foley is a smart player in how she approaches an attack and adjusts to capitalize on a strong kill, tip, or roll shot. A hitter who always swings away at every set becomes predictable. Kaitlyn keeps her opponents guessing. She has long arms and high hands to penetrate the net and block the ball straight down. She gets high in the air and on top of the ball to score. Keep your eyes on Foley and her success in the sport.
Kiana Greer
Kiana Greer
Kiana Greer is an all-around 6-rotation player who goes hard on offense and defense. She is fun to watch because she makes things happen on the court. She dives to save balls and is back on her feet in no time to make a play. Often height is a factor in a player’s position. Greer’s vertical compensates for being 5’8 so her height is not an issue when she attacks the ball. She has power in her arm swing and force behind the ball to score. She can hit between blockers, tool the block, and place the ball in open areas of the court. She’s a very smart player. Keep an eye on Kiana Greer, she is a player to watch.
Sunni Skipps Sunni Skipps 5’11” | RS Mary Star Of The Sea | 2025 State CA is a lefty power hitter who plays with complete confidence. Her natural arm swing as a left-handed player on the right side can get right through a block. Unlike a right-handed hitter, her swing does not have to cross over her chest. Sunni gets high in the air to block at the net. She has a high volleyball IQ in knowing how to place the ball or what type of attack needs to be delivered to score. She goes hard in her position and battles at the net on offense and defense.

Ava Poinsett Ava Poinsett 6’0″ | OH Francis Parker | 2025 State #60 Nation CA can serve receive and get off a good pass to the setter. She has a strong back-row attack. At the net, she can block by penetrating with high hands. She reacts to overpasses, delivering them back quickly. She can put the ball in the block, between the block, or tool the block to score. Her defense in back row consists of digging, diving, receiving, passing, and popping up balls to save them from hitting the ground. Ava goes hard on the court and plays with confidence in knowing the game. Keep your eyes on Ava as these two crucial years in high school pass by.
Ryan Gilhooly Ryan Gilhooly 5’9″ | OH Marymount | 2025 State CA is an all-around player who performs in each area on the court. Her hits from outside, pipe, and right-side are powerful. She gets air when she attacks the ball and puts it down with force. She can Pass the ball and defend back row. From both pins, she can hit cross-court. Ryan finds the open spots and there goes the ball. Keep Ryan on the radar.
Reagan Hutchinson
Reagan Hutchinson
Reagan Hutchinson goes hard with a hit or soft with a tip over. She can block at the net, timing the attack perfectly. She can pass and serve. She can kill the ball at the net or behind the ten-foot line and still score. Reagan will adjust to an off-set and still make a play happen. She slides over and covers her hitters when she sees the opponent setter setting their right side. She shuffles back into position and can tool the block. Keep an eye on Reagan as she continues to grow in the game.
Stella Dillon Stella Dillon 6’1″ | RS Francis Parker | 2025 CA is fast and quick with a nice cross-court attack or down line shot. Stella transitions to her approach with nice back arm swings that help with speed and power to attack the ball.
