We had a great time for our first-ever Prep Dig Indiana Freshman Showcase! Here are my five top game changers that showed up and showed out today.
Jenna Dittmer, 5-8 OH, Zionsville
What a thumper! Jenna brought a quick arm, fast feet and a high volleyball IQ to our Freshman Showcase today. She also performed well in the pass-to-attack series we had, along with some solid game play that looks more experienced than her freshman age might suggest.
Jillian Forrest Jillian Forrest 6'0" | RS Ursuline | 2027 OH , 5-10 RS, Ursuline Academy (Ohio)
Jillian joined us from neighboring state Ohio for this showcase, and we’re glad she did. She saw multiple reps in both the middle and the right side, although her projection has her on the right. She’s big, strong, put balls away regularly in all directions and blocked a ton. For a kid that came from multiple hours away to show out, she definitely did.
Lila Bruszewski, 6-0 MB, Carmel
Long and lean, Lila is a definite M2 at the next level. I wish we could have had some one-footed reps on the attack, but her reps in front of the setter produced a ton of kills and effective swings. Her long arms make her seem taller than her six foot frame, as she blocked from pin to pin with ease.
Anabelle Schembra, 5-9 S, Center Grove
Already playing up a year on TI’s 15-1 this past spring, Anabelle was easily the best setter at the Showcase this morning. Vocal, physical and very athletic, it was clear that Miss Schembra knew how to run an offense, connected with all of the hitters she had (without prior knowledge of them), and consistently saw herself on the winning side.
Vivian Stevenson, 5-3 DS/L, Yorktown
Of course, you can’t have a full top five without a Munciana kid as the ball control expert. She was the first to pick up a ball upon arrival, and looked ready to go before anyone else had their shoes on. Once play started, her footwork was smooth, she had confident movements to the ball, passed consistently and was anticipatory on defense.
