Here are five athletes who were among the Kansas leaders in total blocks during their junior seasons. All of them finished with at least 40 blocks.
Milly Bailey, 5’8”, MH, Olpe
Bailey’s Olpe teammate Grace finished with a total of 157 blocks last season and next in line for the Eagles on the stat sheet was Bailey with 63 total blocks. She also added 78 kills during the 2022 season. Bailey plays primarily just front row but does damage when she is on the court.
Ashley Stephenson, 5’8”, MH/OH, Little River
Stephenson is a two-sport athlete for Littler River starring on the basketball and volleyball courts. She finished her junior campaign with 55 total blocks an increase of 20 from her sophomore season. Stephenson also added 162 kills during the 2022 season and plays small forward for Little River’s basketball squad.
Kolby Holcomb, 5’8”, RS/S, Flint Hills
Holcomb is a poised volleyball player who can perform multiple roles for a team. She had 47 total blocks during her junior campaign. To that total, she added 110 kills and 67 assists. She can play all over the court and could be a solid utility player at the college level.
Kennidy Amrein, 6’0”, MH, Victoria
Amrein is a skilled athlete who could be a college prospect in volleyball and basketball. She finished her junior season with 46 total blocks and 143 kills. She can play six rotations as she finished the 2022 season with solid numbers in digs and serve receptions with 218 and 185 in each respective category. She plays center for the Victoria basketball team and averaged 7.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.
Janae Granere, 5’8”, MH, Marmaton Valley
Granere finished her junior season at Marmaton Valley with 43 total blocks and 173 kills. She can jump and has a nasty serve which accounted for 59 aces during the 2022 season. She is a combo guard for the basketball team.
