Continue ReadingWe look back at 2022, and a handful of setters in Class 4 had decent seasons a year ago. We expect more from these players this year with an additional year under their belts. Some of these players worked in a two-setter system, while others had limited action.
Abby Morris – 2026 – Willard
Willard won five games a season ago but we don’t see that happening in 2023. Last year they ran a two-setter offense but with one of them graduating, that leaves only Morris back. We will see if she runs the show solely or with help but we do see her having more than the 305 assists from last fall.
Lucy Hafer Lucy Hafer 5'7" | S West Plains | 2026 State MO – 2026 – West Plains
Hafer saw action in 94 sets last year in her first season and had 298 assists. In her second year and after a good club season, look for those numbers to take a jump.
Cheyenne Strohkirch – 2025 – Farmington
The Farmington junior averaged 4.2 assists per set in her sophomore season. She played in over 100 sets, so expect her numbers to increase if her role is unchanged.
Megan Howard Megan Howard 5'10" | OH Bolivar | 2025 State MO – 2025 – Bolivar
Howard takes a lot of swings for Bolivar but we should highlight the work she puts in from the setter position. She tallied more assists in 2022 than the previous season and we should see a rise in that stat again entering her junior season.
Madilynn Mitchell – 2025 – Jefferson City
The Jefferson City setter had 334 assists last year in her sophomore campaign. She saw her average assists per set jump from 2.8 to 3.4 from year one to two, so expect another jump in year three.
Shaye Holland – 2025 – Hillsboro
In her first season of varsity action, Holland did her part with 270 assists, good for about three per set.
Ella Hukel – 2025 – Central
Hukel only played in 55 sets but made most of her opportunities with 234 assists, good for 4.3 per set. She is a player who showed a lot of potential last year and should be ready for an added role in 2023.
