Here though is a look at five liberos or defensive specialists doing some major digging in the Eastern part of Kansas.
Riley Ourth Riley Ourth 5'7" | DS/L Olathe West | 2024 State KS , 5’9”, L, Olathe West, ‘24
Ourth is a player I intend on watching on September 19, when the Owls face Olathe Northwest. Ourth has 232 digs in 44 sets played in 2023. She is just 113 digs away from achieving the 1,000 career dig mark.
Clare Kuntz, 5’0”, L, Chapman, ‘24
Kuntz is not very tall, but she is agile and moves well. She has 206 digs in 34 sets played for the Fighting Irish.
Lexsey Dewitt, 5’4”, L, Emporia, ‘24
DeWitt has 199 digs in 36 sets played for the Spartans. She should far exceed her total of 273 digs as a sophomore.
Baylen Arnold Baylen Arnold 5'4" | DS/L Concordia | 2026 State KS , 5’4”, S/L, Concordia ‘26
Concordia was a team that played in the Southeast of Saline Invitational that I scouted. She is just a sophomore but is getting lots of varsity time for the Panthers. She has 183 digs in 37 sets played.
Cali Honeyman Cali Honeyman 5'11" | OH Nemaha Central | 2025 State KS , 5’11”, OH/MH, ‘25
Honeyman is a six-rotation talent that I saw play earlier this season at Holton. She has 179 digs in 39 sets played to go along with 152 kills. She has played enough defense that she is ranked in the top 20 diggers in the state of Kansas, unofficially.
