These 10 sophomores are compiling big assist numbers and showing they are going to be foundational pieces to their program for years to come.

Miley Southland Miley Southland 5'10" | S Three Rivers | 2026 State MI , Three Rivers
Southland has Division 2 Three Rivers playing at a high level offensively. She’s able to connect with sister Jenna Southland Jenna Southland 6'1" | MB Three Rivers | 2024 State MI early and often in matches (201 kills). The sophomore setter has 381 assists through 45 sets and has also added 48 digs with 28 kills, 10 blocks and 15 aces.
Allie Davison Allie Davison 5'10" | S Bloomfield Hills Marian | 2026 State MI , Marian
Davison had the tall task of replacing Ava Sarafa, who led the Mustangs to three straight state championships. Marian had some early bumps with a young and inexperience roster, but things have started to click thanks to Davison quickly growing as a setter. Marian is hitting .244 as a team currently behind 378 assists for Davison. She also has 63 digs, 50 kills, 28 aces and 15 blocks.
Rachel Rettell, Utica
Utica has been busy, busy, busy this season with 27 matches already under its belt. That is getting Rettell a lot of reps. She’s put up 371 assists thus far in the 2023 season while tacking on 114 digs, 30 kills and 15 aces.
Gracelynn Olson Gracelynn Olson 5'8" | S Fruitport | 2026 State MI , Fruitport
The Trojans are going up against a lot of top teams from around the state. Olson is keeping pace, recording 321 assists on the year. She also has added 107 digs, 51 kills, 13 blocks and 13 aces. Olson shows a lot of good decision-making and has a high ceiling for the next few years.
Neelah O’Rourke, Fowler
A D4 program that has been in the mix over recent years is Fowler. The Eagles don’t have a record that’s popping off the page but that’s due to playing bigger schools and ranked D3 and D4 teams. O’Rourke has raised her game to lead the offense with 291 assists. She’s also added 38 digs, 19 kills, 12 aces and 10 blocks.
Rylie Barriger Rylie Barriger 5'7" | S Lowell | 2026 State MI , Lowell
The Red Arrows are having a resurgence in 2023 and Barriger’s play certainly is helping contribute to that. Barriger has 290 assists over 32 sets. Her 9.1 assists per set is the highest average of this list of players. Barriger also has strong defensive play this season with 68 digs to go along with 18 kills, 15 aces and eight blocks.
Taegen Anderson, BC Harper Creek
Harper Creek is picking up some notable wins this season and Anderson is definitely on her way to a breakout year. The sophomore has 274 assists over 32 sets. She’s also tallied 60 digs, 19 kills, 14 aces and 11 blocks. Anderson could be what helps the Beavers take a big step forward in 2023.
Izzie Delacher Izzie Delacher 5'9" | S Rockford | 2026 State MI , Rockford
Rockford isn’t lacking in offensive fire power this season. The Rams also use two setters with Delacher being one of them. She has 233 assists on the season thus far, while also being a big part of the defensive effort with 98 digs. Delacher also has 19 aces and 16 kills.
Lucy Stoll Lucy Stoll 5'7" | S South Lyon | 2026 State MI , South Lyon
Stoll is also part of a 2-setter system at South Lyon. The Lions are using a pair of underclassmen to run the offense this season. Stoll leads the way with 231 assists while racking up 89 digs, 19 aces and 10 kills. She’s getting a chance to go up against a lot of top opponents, which will only raise her game quickly.
Morgin Parsley Morgin Parsley 5'10" | S Walled Lake Northern | 2026 State MI , Walled Lake Northern
The Knights want to make a push for the Lakes Valley Conference title in 2023 and Parsley could be a key to that happening. She’s one of two setters for WLN and has 157 assists on the season. She also has 74 kills and 61 digs, as she is able to play the setter/hitter combo at a high level. Parsley is able to make an impact everywhere on the floor.
