Kaitlyn Vogel
Kaitlyn Vogel
Kaitlyn Vogel is a 5’7” Libero from Foothill High in Pleasanton, California.
Kaitlyn’s team, Foothill High, is currently boasting an impressive 31-1 record, earning them the 8th rank in California. As the starting Libero, Kaitlyn was recently named one of CIF’s “Fabulous Freshmen.”
Kaitlyn’s passion for the game shines through her relentless pursuit of every ball and an unwavering commitment to giving her all. She showcases exceptional ball control with a disciplined platform when passing, excelling in defense and digging. Kaitlyn is also a talent at out-of-system setting, displaying her versatility.
When asked about her inspiration, Kaitlyn looks up to Morgan Hentz, a renowned volleyball player, and strives to replicate her hustle and work ethic. For Kaitlyn, volleyball is more than just a sport – it’s a teacher of life skills, a means of travel, a source of friendships, and a sculptor of her character.
This season, Kaitlyn will represent Vision 15 Gold for club.
Leighton Devereux
Leighton Devereux
Leighton Devereux is a 5’11 Setter/OPPO from Marymount High School in Los Angeles, California.
Leighton’s commitment and unwavering work ethic on the court are truly remarkable. As a left-handed setter, she possesses a unique advantage that sets her apart. Her remarkable jump set serves as a clever disguise, keeping opponents guessing about her next move on offense. This talent, to keep the opposing defense guessing, is a testament to her skill and intelligence as a player. One of her trademark moves is her quick hand “dump” – a surprise play that often catches opponents off guard.
But that’s not all. Leighton’s resourcefulness extends to her offensive plays. She cleverly utilizes her left-arm swing to her advantage, often surprising her adversaries by sending the ball over the net on the second touch. Her finesse in executing a “dump” and her crafty use of the swing makes her a versatile threat on the court.
In the upcoming club season, Leighton will be playing with Mizuno Long Beach, showcasing her talents on a bigger stage.
Westley Matavao
Westley Matavao
Westley Matavao is a 6’0 Outside Samoan athlete from Orange Lutheran.
Westley possesses a unique blend of athleticism and cultural grounding. She describes herself as guided primarily by God, family, and her culture. Her high school teammates affectionately call her a “dawg” on the court, attesting to her tenacity.
Westley is known for her heavy-handed kills and her killer top-spin serves. She approaches the net with fast footwork and unleashes a lightning-fast arm swing and snap, making it nearly impossible for opponents to predict where her shots will land. Her skills extend to back-row attacks, adding versatility to her game.
Beyond the court, Westley prepares for the season with dedication, both physically and mentally. Her commitment extends off the court, with her being an outstanding straight-A student. This club season, Westley will be representing Forza 1 North.
Zoey Davon
Zoey Davon
Zoey Davon Laulusa is a 5’3 Libero/DS from South Torrance High School.
Zoey has a dynamic presence on the court. She brings boundless energy and encourages her teammates throughout every play of the game. Zoey serves as the backcourt leader, strategically covering specific zones and playing solid defense.
During the off-season, Zoey takes her skills to the beach, competing in CBVA beach volleyball tournaments. She also finds time to give back, volunteering to teach 12U boys at SCVC. This club season, Zoey will be playing for SCVC 15 Roxy.
Ella Johnson
Ella Johnson
Ella Johnson is a 5’10 Outside Hitter from Chaparral High School in Temecula, California.
Ella is an all-around volleyball player. While she excels in various aspects of the game, her standout skills lie in defense and serving. Ella has a knack for reading the ball and a quick reaction time.
I asked Ella how she is preparing for the upcoming club season, and she said, “I have been watching D1 collage volleyball, doing workouts, maintaining good grades, and I am going to be practicing 2-3 each week getting ready for this upcoming club season.”
Ella will be representing Forza 1 club for the 15’1’s team.
Morgan LaSalle
Morgan LaSalle
Morgan LaSalle is a 5’2 Libero/DS from Windward School in Los Angeles.
Morgan brings an infectious energy to the court. Her fiery spirit has the power to change the momentum of the game, and her vocal leadership runs the court.
As the Libero, Morgan’s defensive skills are quick and precise, while her short serves are a thing of beauty. She displays discipline in serve receive.
This past summer, Morgan attended multiple camps including UCSB and Long Beach. At UCSB, she received ‘Player of the Week’ for her age group. This club season, she is set to hit the court with Actyve Volleyball.
