Ella Duong | 5’9″ | 2024 | OH | Burlingame High School
Keeping shoulders open to the court, like Ella Duong, makes a potential attack variety that will run defenses all over the court. When the set is just right, she is bombs away and hits the ball with her most powerful swing. Otherwise, her repertoire includes an excellent offspeed shot that goes just over the top of the block. When Duong scores a point, she looks to her teammates with body language that suggests to go get more. The most consistent part is that she stays tall and falls away from the set just a little to maintain great spacing.
Morgan Toomey | 2024 | OH | Burlingame High School
Morgan Toomey positions herself to contact the ball at a high point nearly every attempt. Her armswing can be likened to a windmill or any other type of wheel like motion. As the timing is right, which often it is because of positioning herself to contact high, she hits it deep. That location of attack is always difficult to defend. Her range includes down the line all the way to the furthest distance of court away from her. When Toomey scores a point, she looks to her teammates with body language that suggests let’s go.
Ava Scatena | 5’10” | 2026 | MB | Burlingame High School
A middle blocker that has a great connection with her arms and body, like Ava Scatena, can make defenders think fast and also slow down offensive threats. Her arms are up early which makes the transfer from setter to hitter fast. Additionally, the ball she hits will then get past the block quickly. When Scatena scores a point, she looks to her teammates with body language that suggests joy and excitement for the game.
Sophia Knifsend | 2024 | S | Burlingame High School
A 6-2 setter, Sophia Knifsend, plays in the front row while running the offense. She uses her height at the net to hold blockers. Additionally, her height allows her to aggressively move the ball back to the opponent’s side of the net. There is an impressive amount of body control with her play. Specifically, she can run a ball down quickly and yet maintain control in the arms to deliver a platform set precisely. When Knifsend scores a point, she looks to her teammates with body language that suggests that just enjoys playing the game.
Sarah Boncore | 6’0″ | 2025 | OH | San Mateo High School
The graceful movement of Sarah Boncore gives her just enough time to disrupt a defensive counter strategy. As she glides through the air, she holds off her armswing an extra split second and then brings it through toward her intended target. That target of open court is often found before a defender makes contact. Additionally, she has awareness enough to stop her swing to adjust to a set. She is a player that does not let a score dictate her excitement for the game.
