Emma Hendrix | 5’7″ | 2024 | OPP/S | Maxwell High School
The blocking from Emma Hendrix is not short of skillwork as she tallies stats for the Panthers. A trait of great discipline is displayed as she delays her jump when the set is off the net. When in the front row, she is a versatile blocker that can block in the middle. Hendrix tallied a 10 block match this season. Additionally, there were eight matches where she stopped the opponent’s attack six or more times. She touches a height of the second white on the antenna.
Sofia Serrato | 5’11” | 2024 | MB/OPP | Valley Center High School
Sofia Serrato is again and again a player that her teammates can rely on to help the team get to 25. In fact, every set might as well have started at 1-0 for the Jaguars with the other team asking her not to block. When there is play happening at the net, she is very focused on the ball. Serrato tallied 11 blocks in one match for what averaged to be 3.7 blocks per set. Additionally, there were seven matches where she stopped the opponent’s attack six or more times.
Anayah Davis | 5’8″ | 2026 | MB | Santa Paula High School
A multiple sport athlete, as Anayah Davis is, demonstrates excellent control for the Cardinals. Specifically, she was called for 13 infractions into or under the net. Davis tallied a 10 block match in three matches this season. and one of those matches included eight blocks in two sets. Additionally, there were 71% of the matches she played where she stopped the opponent’s attack six or more times. A deeper dive shows that 57% of all her blocks were solo blocks.
Mariela Navarro | 5’6″ | 2024 | MB | East Union High School
Gliding in the air and reaching are two descriptive words that suggest consistency of the blocking game for Mariela Navarro. She is athletic and also reacts well to what she sees going on in the game. Navarro tallied a 10 block match this season. Additionally, there were five matches where she stopped the opponent’s attack six or more times. When she is at the net, she is poised. Specifically, she had not had more than two blocking errors in any match this season.
Talyah Paepule | 6’1″ | 2024 | MB | Santa Ana Valley High School
Expect lots of energy and passion with emphatic blocks from Talyah Paepule. Her blocks, as some say, bring down the house inciting lots of celebration and cheering. How she does this is by positioning her body slightly different than the often seen block position. She stands about half a foot further away from the net and takes a controlled jump into the ball when blocking. This momentum seems to be the precursor of a monster block. Paepule touches a height of the second white on the antenna.
