Kiara Edwards | 6’0″ | 2024 | OPP | Torrey Pines High School
To extend her shoulders, like Kiara Edwards does, makes for a lot of flexibility. From there she can reach high for a ball and create a great wheel-like motion with her elbow. Additionally, her far stretching shoulders leads to Edwards leaning into her swing. Using that lean with some torque can enable quite a bit of power potential. When she passes, her arms have distance from her body on contact. Going back to the serving line, she hits a jump float that she also leans into to take advantage of her standing height.

stays grounded to the floor and then explodes out to make a play. Absent of a split step, she challenges herself to really react more than read. Athleticism over thinking with Evens. When looking at her passing and digging, she is quick with her arms to make a platform. This quickness starts with a rigidity in her movement. However, she displays flexibility as she pushes the ball up breaking some of the rigid movements. Additionally, she is great at creating a platform angle when the ball is near or far from her.
Madison McCarthy | 5’11” | 2025 | OH | Cathedral Catholic High School
When Madison McCarthy scores a point, she celebrates with everyone. Specifically, her spin move after a kill is in the direction of coaches and then to her teammates. Before she scores the point it is clear she has used time to learn the many ways to score. Specifically, she either pushes the ball off a blocker, swings hard at a blocker’s arms, or hits deep for a clean kill. When McCarthy hits, she hits with excellent pace on the ball making a great challenge for defenders to react.
Sophia Johnson | 5’7″ | 2026 | OPP | Cathedral Catholic High School
The straight line approach of Sophia Johnson creates a visual deception for her naturally strong cross court attack. If the set gets close enough to the antenna she can hit line but she often choose a cross court thud. Additionally, she thuds the ball the other direction when on the leftside. Johnson has a near 270 degree range of attacking. Whether strategically or defensively, she also has a nice tip shot that goes just up and over a blockers stretched out arms.
Mai Plsek | 2024 | L | Torrey Pines High School
To hold a platform, like Mai Plsek does, takes discipline and confidence. Not only does she hold the platform after a pass, but also her posture of how she passed the ball. These are both excellent self checks for her that make her even more coachable. She can contact the ball with control a really great distance away from her body. Additionally, Plsek shuffle steps to nearly every ball. Both the shuffle step and distance from her body can make her a 60% court coverage serve receiver.
