Danica Eggleston | 2025 | DS/S | LA Cañada High School
A multidirectional standing float serve like that of Danica Eggleston is certainly a reason to get time on the court. Starting in area one, she hangs a deep serve cross court or drops a short serve down the line. Both add numbers to the scoreboard. Her digging may not directly add numbers but it certainly provides opportunities. The rigidity she plays with along with flexibility to dig low and high keeps a lot of volleyballs high off the ground.
Irelyn Fung | 2025 | OPP | LA Cañada High School
Irelyn Fung is a spark plug that ignites an offense. She drives a ball set to her deep into the opponent’s court. Often times after those points there is a lot of energy and passion in her celebration with teammates. Fung hits mostly cross court with an occasional swing where the ball does go up before it goes down. When blocking, that armswing must be exhausting to focus in on. Additionally, she is active at the net digging up attacks within 10 feet of the net.
Emma Reed | 2024 | MB | LA Cañada High School
Scorekeepers can be found writing on the scoresheet when Emma Reed is blocking or hitting. As a fan of athletic competition, her broad jumping into a set is interesting to watch. She shows comfort with hitting in front of a setter. Mostly a cross court hitter, Reed will leap into the ball and drop her non hitting arm to attack. Additionally, she touches a height of the second white on the antenna.
Alina Ashby | 2024 | MB/OPP | San Luis Obispo High School
Being a patient and an actively moving hitter like Alina Ashby requires excellent awareness. When she tracks a set location, the speed of her steps do change. As they should with any approach to the ball, Ashby also maintains great spacing. When looking for opportunities for her team to attack, she displays agile and alert movements near the net. Specifically, off blocker digging. Look for her passion and energy more and more this winter.
Lauren Jenkins | 2026 | MB | San Luis Obispo High School
When a setter is confident to set Lauren Jenkins close to the net, points are certainly expected to go on the scoreboard. Her hitting close to the net has undoubtedly taught Jenkins to use to her advantage a block that is against her. She gets down to business and finds way to score even in difficult circumstances. She takes a short approach to a set and naturally hits the ball back to area one.
