Léyahniah Paleafei | 5’4″ | 2026 | OH/S | Lincoln High School
With a jump float serve, Léyahniah Paleafei begins her serving approach in the middle of the court. When she takes her four steps to the service line, she is gaining momentum by steadily going fast. After her toss, the height of her armswing is great. For Paleafei, two things happen because of her approach speed and arwswing height. Those are that she drives the ball deep and generates a slight top spin on the ball. In total, she has 119 aces this season.
Johana Stone | 5’8″ | 2026 | S/OPP | St. Vincent de Paul High School
Johana Stone looks prepared in her stance before her jump float serve. Her intent seems clear as she stands on the right side of the court ready to serve. Of the choices to put it in play or put pressure on, she puts on pressure. Specifically, her jump float serve is hit flat across the net. When the ball goes across the court to the opponent’s right side, her serve has a quick drop to it. Stone mostly hits the ball across her body on her serve.
Carmen Barajas | 5’8″ | 2024 | S | Riverside Prep High School
The standing float serve of Carmen Barajas may appear casual as first, but is certainly not casual when it gets on opponents. She has found an ability to make her serve hang and float in the air. In a bit of self actualization, Barajas does watch it fly a bit afterward. It is always good to acknowledge something going right. She serves down the line or in the middle of the court. That floating movement is above the antenna height and her aces come as opponents seem to get lost in that floating movement.
Joyce Zamudia | 5’4″ | 2024 | S | Buchanan High School
When Joyce Zamudia serves, there are many difficult serves to prepare for. What seems to be her go to serve is one that gets on the other team fast. She always starts her standing float serve from the right side of the court and usually hits to the middle or right side of the opponent. Additionally, her hard driven serve is complemented with a offense disrupting short serve. Zamudia hits the ball between seams of passers very well.
Brielle Cox | 2025 | OH | Immanuel Christian High School
The serving from Brielle Cox probably feels like the success is a collaborative effort. As she serves, she is great at following the location guidance from a coach. The trajectory on her serve is something that forces opponents to spend time thinking. Specifically, she can serve short and deep with the ball staying in the air for a while. If opponent communication is minimal, then Cox will add to her team’s score. For fun, the celebration of an ace includes choreographed moves which always keeps the game exciting for the players.
