Katelyn Clifton | 5’6″ | 2024 | S | TStreet
The setting from Katelyn Clifton happens very close to being all in a straight line. Her contact point is straight above her forehead where her body appears to be very straight upon contact. To do this, she anticipates the pass very well. Specifically, she gets to where the pass will be well before it actually arrives. Additionally, the tempo of her sets are higher when she moves off the net. Generally, Clifton maintains her setting posture in a range of passes two feet behind her all the way to 12 feet off the net.
Makenna Tutthill | 6’0″ | 2024 | MB | Motherlode
Makenna Tutthill will hit a wide range of playsets while in her middle hitting position. Specifically, the tempo of her sets are quick sets and also a second tempo set run just slightly slower and higher. These different tempos are found from in front of the setter and about six feet in front of the setter. Additionally, she can stay involved in the offense during transition by taking a smaller, two step approach. Tutthilll touches a height of the second red on the antenna.
Janaye Walker 5’2″ | 2024 | L | Valley Volleyball Academy
There is a discipline to the game of Janaye Walker related to her body position when passing the ball. Specifically, it appears she works to contact the serve about a ball distance away from the body regardless of the serve location. This happens with both short and deep serves. A small, occasional detail to discover with Walker is a very minimal upward wrist movement to get the ball to target. Her feet stay solid then make small, controlled movements toward the ball. Additionally, she absorbs the ball well when digging.
Jamie Kibin | 5’3″ | 2024 | L | Oasis
Jamie Kibin has a presence on the court that makes for a clear and understood dynamic of who will pass the ball between two players. She moves confidently, with strong movements and no hesitation after a decision to move has happened. Kibin allows her arms to do the work for a pass. Specifically, her arms swing just enough to ensure the ball moves forward with a occasional elbow if the serve catches her by surprise. She has a jump float serve that can cause fits by moving short and deep. Additionally, she shares her joy for the game with her cheering of other’s successes.
Adrianna Pakes | 5’11” | 2024 | OH | SoCal Legends
When hitting, Adrianna Pakes has her hand up early ready and waiting to hit. Her big hand has already started a wrist snap and then upon contact she snaps her wrist through quick. More than her closing on the ball quickly, she is also a smart hitter that finds the open court. Pakes is mostly a line of approach hitter which hits in the direction her approach is heading. Her quickness shows up in her defense as well when she suddenly jumps into to dig a tip within ten feet of the net. When blocking, she keeps it simple and just tries to block what is in front of her.
