Here are five prospects from the Topeka-based club who caught my eye in the loss.
Henlee Hunter, 5’7”, OH/MB, Perry-Lecompton, ‘27
Hunte is an athletic prospect who can contribute in several different ways on the court. She filled up her stat sheet with five digs, three kills, and three serve receptions. The Kaws have a lot of talent so it will be interesting to see what position she will spend the most time in during her sophomore season.
Justine Johnson, 5’7”, MB/OH, Highland Park, ‘27
Johnson is an interesting prospect. She jumps well and moves well. She had three digs, one kill, and one ace in the loss. It was the first time I had seen Johnson play, but she made a solid first impression. She is a physical athlete who will benefit from playing club ball.
Leah Hargis, 5’6”, RS/DS, Seaman, ‘28
Hargis is an 8th grader who is playing up on this team. She arguably is the most well-rounded player on the team. She finished with three digs and two serve receptions in the Fury’s loss. Pretty much the only 14s I see play are those that play up, so it is hard to make comparisons, but I can honestly state that Hargis did not play like she was intimidated at all.
The Fury used two liberos in this match. Seaman prospects Chloe Conley and Kendall Selbach split playing time. Conley finished with four digs and four serve receptions, while Selbach chipped in three digs and three serve receptions.
