I scouted three matches in Pool 2 and Pool 1.
Here is a look at prospects who stood out in the Lawrence Landsharks 17-1 two-set loss to Highlands 17-1, a team made up of athletes from Northwestern Missouri schools.
Brynn Pfannstiel, 5’8”, OH, Lawrence, ‘26
The most impressive player for the Landsharks was playing up in this tournament. Lawrence High’s Pfannstiel is extremely quick and an emotional athlete. She finished with a team-high four kills to go along with six serve receptions and two digs. The Landshark prospect has a nice vertical and plays a poised game for her age.
Jessica Sayler, 5’9”, OH/DS, Lawrence, ‘25
Another Lawrence Lion prospect who played well was Sayler. She has solid all-around skills. She finished with seven serve receptions and two digs. Sayler did not have much of a role in the attack game against Highlands, but played solid defense and made consistent first passes.
Sydney Brozik, 5’10”, OH, Homeschool, ‘25
Brozik is homeschooled but takes online classes with Lawrence Free State. She finished with a team-high eight serve receptions. She also collected three digs and one kill. Brozik needs to improve her on-court confidence and become more physical if she has aspirations of playing collegiately. She was the most composed back-row player for the Landsharks.
Maddie Flynn, 5’7”, L, Perry-Lecompton, ‘26
Flynn is a solid libero who will improve with increased experience. She plays high school ball for Perry-Lecompton which has been producing some quality volleyball players. Flynn recorded three serve receptions and two digs. Flynn, like Pfannstiel, was playing up in this tournament.
