I scouted three matches on Saturday in the 17U Division.
Here is a look at multiple prospects from the KS Networks 17-3 and 17-6 squads. This is the first of two scouting reports and tomorrow I will be scouting the 15U Division. There are three under-the-radar heavy-hitting prospects among this group.
Trinity Griffin, 5’9”, OH/MB, Newton, ’25 (KS Networks 17-3)
The KS Networks 17-3 squad had the best match of the day that I scouted. Griffin, a prospect from Newton, had one of the best all-around matches during the morning. In a two-set win over KS Networks 17-6 she filled up her stat line with three kills, two blocks, two aces, and one dig. She has a big reach and a serve that sneaks up on defenders.
Sa’Lah Anderson, 6’0”, MB, Wichita East, ’25 (KS Networks 17-3)
Anderson is not the most polished player right now, but she was the most athletic player on the court at this event. The Blue Ace prospect can jump out of the gym and understands how to block. This is her first season playing club ball and it shows. However, I know coaches who will want her in their gyms, just because of her natural ability. She needs to dedicate herself to the game completely and hit the weight room. If she does that I she could be an all-league Division II and NAIA type of talent.
Pozzi Krehbiel, 5’6”, OH/DS, Newton, ’25 (KS Networks 17-3)
Krehbiel is a bouncy prospect who makes the ball moan when she gets a hold of it. She finished with a team-high seven kills in the win over the KS Networks 17-6. She also racked up six digs and has a serve that nose dives. I think she could be a six-rotation player for an NAIA program.
Chavi Krehbiel, 5’4”, S/L, Newton, ’25 (KS Networks 17-3)
Pozzi’s sister Chavi is not quite the jumper that her sister is, but their game complements each other well. She has a nice touch as a setter, but can also hit and pass. She collected eight digs in the Saturday victory. If I was an NAIA coach at a nearby school, Bethel, Friends, Bethany, etc. I would sign both sisters and let them hunt.
Emerson Wedel, 5’9”, OH, Goddard, ’25 (KS Networks 17-3)
The best serve of the day belonged to Wedel. Her serves have as much heat on them as Ghost Pepper Chilis. She had six digs, and three kills in the match I scouted. She is a very talented athlete who has already committed to Newman University to play soccer as a keeper.
Trinity Espinoza, 5’7”, OH, Canton Galva, ’25 (KS Networks 17-6)
Espinoza had two solid matches for an outnumbered and overmatched Networks squad. They played the first match with just five players and had no subs for the second match. Espinoza was flying all over the court in both matches. She finished with a two-match total of 10 digs, five kills, and five serve receptions. During the first match, she and teammate Olivia Carlson were the only two players who weren’t intimidated and looked ready to play.
Olivia Carlson, 5’8”, MH/DS, Centre, ’25 (KS Networks 17-6)
Carlson is a solid team player who hustles with the best of them. She seemed to be the best attacker for the Networks squad on this day and carried the team during a couple of long rallies. Carlson finished with 11 digs, 12 serve receptions, and five kills in two matches. Both she and Espinoza could add depth to an NAIA or JUCO program.
