One of the two matches I scouted at a 17U HOA Region Bid tournament was the Aces’ first match of the day, a two-set victory over the Missouri Juniors.
Here is the second of three reports featuring prospects from club action on March 23.
Kinzie Perdue Kinzie Perdue 5'10" | OH Arkansas City | 2025 State KS , 5’11”, OH, Arkansas City
Perdue really surprised me in this match. The Arkansas City prospect was tied for the team lead with six kills against the MO Juniors. She is currently ranked No. 64 overall and has been in conversations with Division II programs up to this point in her recruitment. She is a gritty and athletic. She stood out more in this match than the previous times I have watched her.
Lauren Welch Lauren Welch 5'6" | DS/L Maize | 2025 State KS , 5’8”, L, Maize (St. Olaf’s)
Welch recently committed to St. Olaf College a Division III school in Minnesota. She is ranked No 89 in the Class of 2025 and had a nice opening match in Saturday’s pool play. She made consistent first passes and tallied nine digs and four serve receptions. The Maize Eagle prospect will head to Northfield, Minnesota and hopes to play right away for the Oles.
Kaitlyn Gordon Kaitlyn Gordon 5'8" | DS/L Andover | 2025 State KS , 5’9”, DS/S, Andover (Pittsburg State)
Gordon is currently ranked No. 20 in the most recent Kansas rankings for the Class of 2025. She has already committed to play college volleyball at Division II Pittsburg State. She played setter in the second set after the usual starting setter left with an illness. The Andover product registered eight assists, two digs, two aces, and one block in the win.
Lily Gray Lily Gray 6'4" | MB Sterling | 2025 State KS , 6’5”, MB, Sterling
Gray did not dominate the match like I hoped she would, but this young lady is a potential beast. She is currently ranked No. 43 in the Kansas Class of 2025 and played with more confidence than she had prior to the season starting. At 6-foot-5 area college coaches will regret not giving her a look. Gray is an ideal prospect for NAIA and JUCO programs as she wants a small college environment in which to continue her playing career.
Kamryn Kennedy, 5’10”, MB/OH, Kapaun Mt. Carmel
An unranked prospect that caught my eye on the Aces squad as Kapaun’s Kennedy. She can jump out of the gym and hits the ball hard. She finished with a block one block, one kill, and three digs. Kennedy is a quick, as a big reach, and plays with an infectious positive attitude.
