Our post-update coverage of the state’s 2027s has covered a couple of position groups already. Liberos and middle blockers have been in the spotlight, and we’ve mixed some new names with existing watch list entries. This one will bring out the fresh faces.
Setters need some hype in the 2027 group, and this is the place to bring it. Keep an eye out for these savvy distributors who have just emerged in our player database.
Nebraska Elite brought several setters to our attention through their three-deep performance at January’s Northern Lights Qualifier. Bradley rose to the occasion with Nebraska Elite 15-2 during the team’s ascent to the final bracket. Her team worked well with slower tempos, and Bradley was happy to deliver those on a dime. Ball control remains a storyline for Nebraska’s top 15s teams, especially with athletes like Bradley setting the pace.

Cahow is accompanied by all of her Premier Nebraska 15 Black teammates in this watch list update. It’s hard not to hype up this group after the 15 USA championship march at NLQ. Cahow helped set one of the division’s top offenses. 15 Black has an impressive collection of hitters, but these high-level victories are not possible without pinpoint setting. Get ready to see it all materialize at Nationals.

Castle adds to the count at Nebraska Elite. Her stability at setter helped Nebraska Elite 15-3 accompany its 15-2 counterparts in the final NLQ bracket. This squad can also adapt to a variety of systems with Castle being able to set all the way around the dial. Depth is no problem for Nebraska Elite, especially with so many talented signal-callers in the gym.
Time to bring Nebraska Juniors into the conversation. Christensen is establishing herself as a stable focal point for 15 Black after the latest wave of regional events. The Lincoln Lutheran prep athlete is digging plenty of balls in the right-back area to go along with her poised presence as a setter. Upcoming events will give us a better bearing on where Nebraska Juniors stands, but Christensen has cemented her early place on the 2027 watch list.
VCNebraska is bringing up another wave of talented setters on its 15s teams. Kroemer brings the speed and tempo that you’d expect from a VCN setter. Her quick release holds middle blockers long enough to open up one-on-one opportunities on the pins. Jump setting is a big strength of Kroemer’s game, as she has mastered the rhythm to make it effective. VCN 15 Black has a lot to gain with this talented setter guiding the operation.

Lehr has earned a couple of shoutouts here before, but this update marks her debut on the 2027 watch list. This emergence comes after Lehr piloted the Nebraska ONE 15 Lime offense to several big weekends on the national stage. It started at the Northern Lights Qualifier, where Lehr exhibited her aggressive approach to the setter position. She will never hesitate to attack on the second ball and give opposing blockers something extra to think about. It’s a trend that has played out with so many other great Nebraska ONE setters.
Highlights
Link’s primary position is setter, but she does a lot more than run the offense for Nebraska Elite 15-3. She finds a way to be an offensive threat herself with tricky set-over dumps from the back row. Nebraska Elite also wields Link as a pin attacker in the front row, allowing this versatile athlete to display her full volleyball arsenal. Setter-attackers are a rare find at the 15s level, but Link is already mastering this dual role.
Rands is among the most physical setters we have in the 2027 watch list. Her length and blocking prowess gives River City Jrs 15 Navy the flexibility to succeed in a one-setter offense. That consistency has allowed 15 Navy’s hitters to flourish behind Rands’ precise location and distribution skills. A strong showing at the ASICS Presidents’ Day Classic will be a launching pad for many of 15 Navy’s players to stand out throughout 2024.
