Our first release featured 20 prospects and a wide array in the Watch List.
Since those rankings came out, a handful of players have made sure to cement themselves in the next set of expanded rankings.
Here’s six players sure to crash the party when we next update the 2027 rankings.
Elise Biermann Elise Biermann 5'10" | OH Eisenhower | 2027 MI , OH Eisenhower/Michigan Elite
Biermann has gotten opportunities to play against high-level competition over the last year and she’s held her own well. She has been able to show the ability to finish from anywhere along the net and has consistent power on her swing. Biermann stays active and ready defensively and can put a good serve on the ball as well. Biermann still has a high ceiling as she adds more pacing and instinct to her game.
Avery Kapeller Avery Kapeller 5'11" | OH Orchard Lake St. Marys Prep | 2027 MI , OH OLSM/High Performance
Kapeller has been a kill machine this club season for High Performance Nike 15-1. She’s routinely into double-digits per match, as her length and arm speed combine for a powerful shot that defenses are struggling to deal with. Kapeller’s swing is technically sound, and she’s able to high-point the ball often to keep blockers from having a shot to stuff her attacks.
Ava Bush-Nelson Ava Bush-Nelson 6'1" | MB Jenison | 2027 State MI , MH Jenison/FaR Out
Bush-Nelson helped Jenison have a breakout season in Division 1 this fall and is now playing with FaR Out 16 Black to get some valuable experience at a higher age level. You wouldn’t know it with her play, though, as her speed and tempo are right where they need to be. Bush-Nelson has great reaction time and her arm speed allows her to deliver a high-percentage attack. She looks like a veteran middle already.
Elizabeth Risdon Elizabeth Risdon 5'10" | OH Zeeland East | 2027 MI , OH Zeeland East/FaR Out
Risdon shows a well-balanced game as she works on becoming a reliable six-rotation outside. Her transition from serve receive to attack is smooth. Risdon is putting time in on her serve receive and that is looking more polished. As a hitter, Risdon plays out-of-system balls well, and she’s able to attack the boundaries effectively when she gets to dial up an aggressive swing.
Addison Stepp Addison Stepp 5'8" | DS/L South Lyon East | 2027 MI , DS/L South Lyon East/Legacy
Stepp played a big role for the Cougars in their run to another league championship before getting injured late in the season. That hasn’t stopped her from being a top level libero for one of the nation’s top 15U clubs in Legacy 15-1 ADIDAS. Stepp is going up against the top hitters in the country time and again and coming through with challenging digs each match. The experience alone will raise her game to a high level for next fall.
Avery Stepp Avery Stepp 5'8" | S South Lyon East | 2027 MI , S South Lyon East/Legacy
Similar to Addison, Avery Stepp Avery Stepp 5'8" | S South Lyon East | 2027 MI saw a lot of playing time for South Lyon East this fall and now runs the offense for Legacy 15-2 ADIDAS. Stepp sets a smooth ball and hits key locations well. She’s also worked hard to be a difference-maker defensively and picking up some solid dig totals this season. Her experience against high-level teams has brought new dimensions to her game.
