Most recently, I’ve observed some middle blockers who are truly dedicated during the club season and proving to be top prospects in their positions.
The future looks promising for these sophomores as they pursue their volleyball journey with aspirations of playing at the collegiate level. Let’s take a closer look at some of the standout middle hitters.
Parker has truly stood out as a middle this club season, making significant contributions to her Vegas Aces 15UA team impressive tournament finishes. She brings aggressiveness to both attacking and blocking on the front row. When running a quick set (or 1), she is really good at hitting around blocks with sharp left or right swings. Her slides and other middle attacks are just as good and due to her powerful armswing. I’ll be keeping an eye on this player in the upcoming school season.
Highlights
Ellie Prindl
Ellie Prindl
Ellie demonstrates exceptional skill in hitting and tipping around the block, consistently finding open spots in her opponents deep corners and holes. Her powerful approach and ability to maneuver the ball mid-air make her a challenging opponent to predict. The 6’1” sophomore puts up a big block against opponents as well, which really gets the team hype. Ellie is a valuable asset to any team, capable of racking up several points both offensively with her attacks and defensively with her blocks.
Kensley Hennessy
Kensley Hennessy
Kensley made a significant impact at the Far Western Qualifier and throughout the season for both her high school and club teams. Standing tall at 6’1” as a sophomore, she displays remarkable agility and lightness on her feet, constantly maneuvering the court to make plays with strategic attacks and blocks. She consistently swings on the ball with purpose and power, delivering strong hits. Her blocking abilities are exceptional, securing her 7th place in total blocks in Nevada last fall. Besides playing at an elite level, Hennessy possesses a natural energy that sets her apart. Without a doubt, Kensley is a standout player to watch in the upcoming season.
Hannah Wayment
Hannah Wayment
Hannah consistently delivers big blocks and powerful hits on the court. As a sophomore, she has a great understanding of how to aggressively place the ball in holes on the court or force opponents to shank with her strong hits. This skill has been key in aiding her high school team to finishing second in state as well as her club team’s two first place tournament finishes. I’m excited to catch her play at Nationals. With her elite abilities, I foresee Wayment continuing to excel and becoming a highly sought-after middle player.
