Held at the Salt Palace Convention Center and live streamed via BallerTV, this event is amazing! This article series will discuss some of the players that turned the heads of the court coaches and scouts that were in attendance. Let’s see who earned the Top Performer award from the showcase.
Caitlyn Rother [2027] 5-10 Setter (HS: Los Alamitos/Club: Tstreet/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Caitlyn is currently an unranked prospect in the 2027 Class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them for her grad class yet. She plays for Los Alamitos High School and also club for the Tstreet volleyball program. Miss Rother plays the position with a lot of intensity and loves to cheer for her teammates when they do well. Her positive attitude is something that truly stood out to her court coaches during the showcase. As a setter, I like how she contacts the ball at the same height above her forehead for each set location no matter what the tempo is. This kind of consistency will keep her sets very accurate. Being younger than her teammates on her club team does not stop her from being a force to be reckoned with. She is not afraid to play defense and does a great job of keeping the ball in play. Her ability to push the ball to the pins, especially during her back set puts her opposite hitter in a great position to hit both line and angle against the defense. Please help us congratulate her on earning the Top Performer award at the showcase.
Charlotte Hastings Charlotte Hastings 5'11" | OH San Marcos | 2026 CA [2026] 5-11 Outside (HS: San Marcos/Club: LAVA West/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Charlotte is currently an unranked prospect in the 2026 Class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She plays volleyball for San Marcos High School and also plays club for the LAVA West volleyball program. Miss Hastings has the height, strong frame, and work ethic to dominate on the pins for a while. Her upper body and shoulders hold so much natural power that gets unleashed on the ball with every swing. The moment the ball rebounds off of her hands, it is rifled off of the block out of bounds so quickly if the blockers don’t have great timing or technique. Her awesome wrist snap adds even more pop into the ball when she makes contact. Not many on her court during the showcase could match her raw hitting power. It truly was a sight to see and we were all smiling ear to ear when she was on the attack from the pins. What I loved the most was when she turned down the line with no one in sight and absolutely obliterated the line for a hard driven kill. This young lady deserves a few looks as she has the offense that could help a college roster in a few years. Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award for this showcase.
Josephine Valgus [2026] 5-11 Setter (HS: Woods Charter/Club: NC Volleyball Academy/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Josie is currently an unranked prospect in the 2026 Class according to our Prep Dig North Carolina State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them for her state yet. She plays at Woods Charter High School and plays club for the NC Volleyball Academy program. Josie is a flat out stud who deserves a lot of looks from college coaches due to her height, athleticism and skill with the ball in her hands. She is the prototypical setter that most high-level coaches will fall in love with. There is not a set that she cannot replicate over and over no matter the tempo. Her jump set when she is in the front row is very aggressive and keeps the middle blocker holding until she releases the ball. I love how she has the ability an technique to run back row attacks out of serve receive play-sets no matter where the pass takes her. Everything about her game screams high-level college recruit, so I strongly suggest everyone takes notice now before you get left behind. She is able to play in the front row in a 5-1 and battle at the net or set all three hitters in a 6-2. Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award for this showcase.
