We have been watching the 2024 class very closely throughout the entire high school and club season. A lot of the analysis has come from watching these players in person and also by watching the amazing footage that has been uploaded to everyone’s recruiting profiles. We have been talking to a lot of coaches across the country and this class is littered with college prospects. The following players showed us all that they deserved to be listed in the rankings due to their individual performances.
Lilliana Montes Lilliana Montes 6'3" | MB Vista Murrieta | 2024 State CA [2024] 6-3 Middle (HS: Vista Murieta/Club: Coast/Verbal: University of Maryland Eastern Shore)
Please officially welcome Miss Montes to the State Rankings. She is currently ranked as the 35th best overall player according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She plays at Vista Murieta High School and for the Coast volleyball club program. Lilly will play for the University of Maryland at Eastern Shore next season. She finished her high school career with 373 kills on a very impressive .290 hitting percentage. She also had 212 total blocks over three years in the middle. You cannot teach height and Lilly has a lot of it. While most taller players are a little slower on the court, Miss Montes moves so well laterally and drives hard toward her setter in order to stay on tempo for the quick attack. I also love how she is able to hit around the block with amazing angles for a score. We are very proud to have her listed on our prestigious State Rankings list. Please help us congratulate her on her achievement of being listed amongst the great players of this state.
Makayla Gates Makayla Gates 5'11" | OH Yorba Linda | 2024 State CA [2024] 5-11 Outside (HS: Yorba Linda/Club: Momentous/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Please officially welcome Miss Gates to the State Rankings. She is currently ranked as the 42nd best overall player according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She plays at Yorba Linda High School and for the Momentous volleyball club program. Makayla is an extremely talented and electric left side attacker who can light up a scoreboard in a hurry from any location on the court. She is a six-rotation player with a ridiculous vertical who also contacts the ball at the true peak of her reach. Her lightning quick arm swing finds the seam with ease as she slices it through the air with a surgeon’s precision. Blockers will have to time it perfectly due to her amazing hang time in the air. When her squad is able to give her a one on one situation, it usually ends up in a hard driven kill for her. She is a member of the famed ten foot club, meaning she can approach touch over ten feet in the air. We are very happy to have her listed on our site. Please help us congratulate her on earning a spot in our prestigious State Rankings.
Chloe Hynes Chloe Hynes 6'1" | RS Mira Costa | 2024 State CA [2024] 6-1 Right Side (HS: Mira Costa/Club: SCVC/Verbal: New York University)
Please officially welcome Miss Hynes to the State Rankings. She is currently ranked as the 45th best overall player according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She stars on the volleyball court at Mira Costa High School and also plays at the Southern California Volleyball Club . Chloe has some thunderous power that she unleashes on both pins when needed. Her raw natural power can be seen when she bombs down the line or attacks the split in the block for a cross court shot kill. One thing I really like about her is how she is able to turn on the ball in mid-air to hit around the block. When attackers can do this, it is super deceptive and tricks the defense into setting up incorrectly. This is super advantageous for Miss Hynes as she racks up points for her squad. Not many players are able to change their approach for different tempos, but she had to do this routinely during the high school season as Mira Coast ran a super fast left side set and a higher tempo right side set, which Chloe had to run at different times in a given match. Please help us congratulate her on earning a spot in our prestigious State Rankings.
