These players are still finding their roles at the high school level while adding new facets to their game at the club level.
However, there’s still some undeniable talents from the class.
Of those talents, quite a few come from Oakland County. Here’s a look at a handful.
Nellie Alves Nellie Alves 6'0" | S Novi | 2027 MI , S Novi/L2
Alves is a 7-foot setter from Novi that can also play on the outside. Her length and agility make her an easy option to play both positions. She’s got a keen sense for the play and battles hard at the net. Alves can push a fast pace on offense and she has a great connection with her hitters.
Kate Kalczynski Kate Kalczynski 6'1" | OH Mercy | 2027 State MI , OH Mercy/Legacy
This 6’1” power outside has proven she can be a lead hitter of any offense. She’s got the arm speed, technique, and athleticism to dominate any opponent she’s up against. Whether at Mercy, or for Legacy, Kalczynski is going to be an impact player for years to come.
Calli LeFevre Calli LeFevre 5'11" | OH Marian | 2027 State MI , OH Marian/Legacy
LeFevre is one of the most improved players in this class. She’s already proven to put down one of the best kills in the class, but her defense is catching up to her offensive ability. LeFevre plays with a lot of intensity and can really provide a big momentum-shifting attack.
Brenna Mirovsky Brenna Mirovsky 5'7" | S Oxford | 2027 State MI , S Oxford/Michigan Elite
A quick setter that can also play hitter, Mirovsky shows a high court IQ and great leadership ability. She has the overall skillset to be effective anywhere on the floor, but as a setter she can really bring a lot of good swings out of her hitters.
Lexa Pierson Lexa Pierson 5'10" | OH Milford | 2027 State MI , OH Milford/L2
Pierson is an outside that adapts very well on the court. She makes sure she puts a quality swing on the ball each time it comes her way. When she gets the opportunity, Pierson can put a highlight-reel kill on tape, but her best quality is making the right play at the right time and being a patient player.
Marlie Smith Marlie Smith 5'10" | S Clarkston | 2027 State MI , S Clarkston/Legacy
Smith has been an impact player immediately for Clarkston and Legacy. For Clarkston, she sets and hits, excelling at both. For Legacy, she runs a high-powered offense that contends to be among the best in the country. Perhaps her best trait is her competitive fire and leadership. Smith pulls the best out of everyone she plays with.
Sophia Smith Sophia Smith 6'2" | RS Marian | 2027 State MI , RS Marian/Legacy
As a 6’2” hitter, Smith has a big presence at the net, both offensively and defensively. She reads the court very well, which makes her an effective blocker. Her attack on the right side is a compact and quick swing, but she’s able to deliver big power off of it while hitting tight locations along the boundaries.
Addison Stepp Addison Stepp 5'8" | DS/L South Lyon East | 2027 MI , DS/L South Lyon East/Legacy
Stepp has been forced into the fire right away. She’s taken on the best hitters in the state, and the country, and has been able to prove she can hold her own against them all. Stepp always looks laser-focused and it shows in her play, especially during clutch points in a set.
