Here’s a look at seven prospects from the class that are going to be making a name for themselves in the years ahead in the GR area.
Players listed alphabetically
Ava Bush-Nelson Ava Bush-Nelson 6'1" | MB Jenison | 2027 State MI , MH Jenison/FaR Out
Bush-Nelson is going to be a prime middle prospect in the years ahead. She’s got a nice spring off the floor, but can also react very quickly. Her swing is sudden as well, allowing her to strike quickly before blockers can adjust. She’s showing a lot of good court awareness and is improving on her blocking each week.
Grace Goodyke Grace Goodyke 6'1" | OH Grand Rapids Christian | 2027 State MI , OH GR Christian/FaR Out
Goodyke let the state know that she’s the next great hitter from the GRC program this fall. She took on a big workload and pushed the Eagles to the D2 state semifinals. At 6’1”, Goodyke is able to play well above the net and deliver with big power. She moves very quickly around the floor to be a solid defensive asset as well.
Mallory Johnson Mallory Johnson 5'6" | DS/L Byron Center | 2027 State MI , DS/L Byron Center/FaR Out
Johnson is doing what she can to prove she’s one of the best defenders in the country. In the thick of a very impressive 2027 class, she’s leading the rankings. Johnson does all you can ask for of a libero and has been up against the best hitters around to hone her skills. She’s got a solid serve and the instincts of a crafty veteran.
Riley Loehfelm Riley Loehfelm 6'1" | OH Forest Hills Northern | 2027 MI , OH FH Northern/FaR Out
Loehfelm is someone to definitely keep an eye on this fall as a breakout star. She showed some good things for Forest Hills Northern last fall while not being a primary option. The Huskies will be turning to her more this year and she looks more than ready to take on the challenge. Loehfelm has a technically smooth swing and does a good job of attacking the sidelines.
Rylee Paddock Rylee Paddock 5'9" | DS/L Jenison | 2027 State MI , DS/L Jenison/FaR Out
Paddock is another talented defensive prospect that plays like a veteran on the floor. She shows a lot of focus while keeping an eye on the ball, yet also seeing where every player is on the floor. Her form never shows much change, as she’s confident in her technique, and that’s for a good reason. Paddock is someone that teams can definitely rely on to keep them in a tense rally.
Aubrey Reynolds Aubrey Reynolds 5'9" | OH Caledonia | 2027 MI , OH Caledonia/MVA
Caledonia had a lot of strong hitting options this year, but Reynolds really came through as a freshmen the team could count on for some big points. Her hitting got better throughout the year, as she got more confident and mixed up her swings more consistently. Reynolds was also a strong defensive asset, finding ways to come through with big digs throughout the season.
Mallory Wandel Mallory Wandel 6'0" | OH Rockford | 2027 State MI , OH Rockford/MVA
Wandel joined the group of young hitters for Rockford this fall and looked like she belonged right away. Wandel attacks with a lot of ferocity and can put the ball down emphatically. She’s not afraid to take on a big swing in a key point and she’s someone that is going to leave it all on the court each match.
