Mercy managed to make a 43rd straight appearance last fall despite having just one senior fending off 24th District rival Bullitt East, 3-2 (30-32, 25-20, 13-25, 25-20, 15-8) in the 6th Region championship game. The return of almost everyone including their top two setters in Maia Marin Maia Marin 5'11" | S Mercy Academy | 2025 KY and Addison Davis Addison Davis 5'7" | S Mercy | 2026 KY makes the Jaguars the favorite to keep the streak going, but that does not mean the region opponents will hand it to them.
Marin seems more than ready to continue her solid play as the quarterback of the Mercy offense. Marin can set the ball anywhere on the court with short sets, cross sets and back sets. Marin reads defenses well and uses her athleticism to make quick decisions putting her teammates in outstanding position to put balls down. Defensively, she reads opponents and constantly moves her feet to make crisp passes even diving after balls when needed. Marin can handle pretty much any role asked of her because of her versatility. Marin had 641 assists, 256 digs, 59 aces, 127 kills and 36 assisted blocks helping Mercy to a 6th Region championship and spot in the state semifinals last year.
Highlights
Davis shows great enthusiasm for the game on the court, which really helps the team chemistry. Davis can set the ball a variety of ways keeping opponent on their toes. She places balls where they need to go for success with short sets, back sets, cross sets and slide sets. Davis is also a nice passer and recovers quick on blocked balls. Davis had 419 assists, 162 digs and 53 aces helping Mercy to a 6th Region championship and spot in the state semifinals last year.
Highlights
Marshall is a solid all-around player for her high school and club teams. She’ll be needed to pick up her game this fall to keep Bullitt East in the hunt for a district and region crown after the Chargers graduated seven seniors this past fall. Marshall provides great coverage at the net squaring up arms with balls even diving on the ground for balls and covers ground fast. Offensively, Marshall calls for balls, scans defenses quickly and makes quick adjustments trying to place balls away from defenders. She has a solid follow-through even from the back row and draw attention on fakes opening things up for other hitters. As a setter, Marshall angles balls to where hitters can smack them down including back sets. Marshall throws opponents off with dumps and corner shots. Marshall also serves nice balls to the back line. Marshall had 297 kills, 24 assisted blocks, seven solo blocks, 368 digs and 79 aces this past fall helping the Chargers go 29-8, win the 24th District with the first win over state power Mercy Academy in 26 meetings since the two became district foes in 2012 and finish 6th Region runner-up.
Highlights
Milliner is developing into a solid all-around player. Milliner constantly calls for balls doing short and back sets trying to set up hitters for solid contact. Milliner throws in pushes to the far corner and setter dumps to open parts of the floor. She plays solid defense, time blocks and can smack a hard line drive to the back line on serves. Milliner had 135 kills, 367 assists, 224 digs and 69 aces helping North Bullitt to a third straight 23rd District championship.

Saunders gives Bullitt Central reason for success this year with her solid setting. She can jump a different ways to put balls where needed for success. Saunders displays a variety sets giving opponents a lot to consider. Saunders has outstanding timing on her blocks and makes crisp passes.
Josie Cosgrove

Cosgrove has nice athleticism allowing her to run offenses smoothly. It helps that Cosgrove is a vocal leader. Cosgrove gives her teammates precision sets consistently making good decisions. Cosgrove backs up defenders nicely making smooth passes. She’ll put her hands on balls when needed. Cosgrove is improving as a blocker, especially on double blocks. Cosgrove had 653 assists and 85 aces helping Butler to a 22nd District championship last year and spot in the 6th Region semifinals.
