2027 Rankings Update: Setters and Liberos!

[player_tooltip player_id='459079' first='Kathryn' last='Harris'] is the top setter in the class and the #5 overall player. The sophomore S/RS/OH helped lead Curtis to a state 4A title and is a talented and highly competitive player who gets it done in the most significant moments. [player_tooltip player_id='484723' first='Kela' last='Williams'] is the top ranked libero and and #9 overall player. Williams keyed the Wildcat defense in her second season as the starting libero for Mt. Spokane as they made another run to state in 3A.   Here is a closer look at several setters and liberos from the updated 2027 rankings.    Major is a high-energy player for Kamiak. She has soft hands and a good position on her sets. She is also a formidable defensive player, staying low and willing to get on the ground to poke up a tip or make a challenging dig.     Smith has great hands, is strong and hustles on defense, and has excellent touch and connection with her front-row attackers. She lays her sets up with terrific tempo and height for her middles and right sides on quick attacks, creating good scoring chances for her team.     Fioretti plays with balance and stays neutral in her hands and footwear when she sets. Her attackers benefit from her location and ability to keep opposing middles guessing. Fioretti has a tricky jump float serve and has racked up over 100 aces in her first two years at White River.     Erickson is an excellent multi-sport athlete and can play as a setter or defender on the volleyball court. The sophomore is quick and agile, with great hands. Erickson will use one hand to stab a dig and keep a rally going, then turn and make a quality set for one of her teammates on the pin.     LIBERO:      Kaelin was named 3A NPSL First-Team All-League after playing as an attacker for White River. She never failed to make great defensive plays, and she is rugged. She has a terrific feel on the court, is tough mentally, and has quick feet that help her run down anything opponents do to try and score. to     Strong has quality touches as both a passer in serve receive and a rock-solid defender in the back row. The West Valley Yakima sophomore stays low and focuses intensely on keeping every ball up that she can. She will play for CRU this season and should have a terrific run during club.     Matthiesen has some of the best energy and celebrations of any libero in the class. The 5'2" sparkplug cheers hard when her teammate makes a play—keeping everyone excited, energized, and locked into the match. Matthiesen is flexible and strong for her size and has an excellent shuffle step that she uses to keep serves in her midline, dropping dimes for her setters to work with.
