In the 15 Open/Premier Division of the Presidents' Day Challenge in Detroit, Huron Valley Volleyball Club had a strong showing from its 15 Blue team.

The squad finished second, only falling to champion FaR Out 15 Gold.

The Saline-based club program should be pleased with what it saw from this group of 2028 prospects. A number of them had high moments during the weekend.

Here's a few that really caught our eye.

X-Factor: Zoe Gall, MH

Gall put a lot of good things on film this past weekend in Detroit. She showed a lot of variety in her shots and overall play. Gall has the length to be very impactful, and looks to be finding what is working best for her game. She's got a quick shot, but plays a lot of different angles and is able to power through blocks as well. Gall also showed some good defensive play, not just with her blocking, but also scrambling for a dig or to keep a ball in play. She's someone that can still get a lot better, which makes her a prospect to watch.

Momentum Swinger: Addy Hayes, S/RS

Hayes seemed to be involved in a lot of positive plays for HVVC 15 Blue this past weekend. Whether it was her accurate setting, her play as a right side, or her serving, she did a little bit of everything to turn the tide in her team's favor. She may not have been a stat leader in any particular category, but she played all her roles very well and played with a lot of composure. Hayes looks really comfortable on the floor and should see continued improvement as an all-around player throughout the club season.

The Battery: Rachel McCall, L

McCall was a great source of energy for her team this weekend. The libero made a lot of important digs and provided plenty of enthusiasm for her teammates to feed off of. McCall stays locked in and on the move throughout a point, but is going to be the first one to celebrate her teammates for their success. That sort of energy can be infectious, and it was for HVVC 15 Blue.

Deep hitting depth

While those three stood out with their play, another thing that stands out is the tremendous hitting depth that HVVC 15 Blue has. Each match, it seemed like there was a different player leading the way in kills. It makes the team very difficult to game plan for. Sophia Stanavich, Mya Vance, Hana Bicaj, Ellie Budd and [player_tooltip player_id='580775' first='Ainsley' last='Girbach'] each got on a roll at a different point in the weekend. Middle Ellery Geiselman also had some nice moments to really round out the offense. The success of all these arms speaks to the play of Hayes and Leah Vredeveld at setter as well. However, each of these outside arms should be encouraged by their play this weekend and be excited to tap into another level of play in the months ahead.
