The 2025 Michigan Freshman Showcase was a great success, with many 2029 prospects giving their all as a first look at the incoming high school talent.

There's a lot of players to break down over the next handful of days. Let's keep things rolling with Part 2.

[player_tooltip player_id='777145' first='Andersyn' last='King'], S Harper Creek/FaR Out

There were times where King seemed a little hesitant early in the Showcase, but then she got more comfortable and started taking command when she was on the floor. She grew comfortable with her hitters and started showing her communication skills that accompany strong setting skills. King should be confident in her ability to lead any offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='778631' first='Breanna' last='McMahon'], DS/L South Lyon East/Michigan Elite

It was a great Showcase for defensive talent in the Class of 2029 and McMahon was among the best of the group. She had great eyes, and they stayed focused on the ball and seeing it into her arms. She had really smooth technique and made challenging digs look rather routine. I also liked the scrappiness she showed when the pace of play picked up.

[player_tooltip player_id='779874' first='Sienna' last='Moeke'], OH TC Central/Northshore

Moeke looked like a prospect that could make a big impact in Northern Michigan in the near future. She was pretty sound in all phases of the game, looking committed to bettering herself on defense just as much as she did on offense. Moeke has a nice swing that consistently had good power, while also challenging herself to attack sharp angles and push the boundaries.

[player_tooltip player_id='748131' first='Luciana' last='Wichern'], MH TC St. Francis/Northshore

Wichern is a listed as a middle that is pushing toward 6'0”, but to her credit she tried to showcase skills at every possible position. She was eager to get reps on the court and didn't hesitate to make a set, or take on a tough defensive play if that was what was needed. She plays long at the net and had good footwork and timing as a middle, as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='780462' first='Jordyn' last='Kern'], OH South Lyon/L2

Kern made good adjustments at the net to work past blockers when a big swing wasn't the best option. With that said, Kern was still consistent with the velocity on her attacks throughout the event. She times out her swing well to get the ball over blocks with a lot of speed without making attack errors.

[player_tooltip player_id='781224' first='Peyton' last='Sadler'], DS/L Dakota/Unified

Sadler is able to keep herself low and in position without being flat on her feet. She still moves around the back row well and keeps herself on the move to not get stagnant in one spot. That allowed her to make a lot of clean passes and show a lot of promise for where she can go as a reliable defender.

[player_tooltip player_id='781291' first='Charley' last='Baaki'], S/DS Notre Dame Prep/Legacy

Baaki is a prospect that NDP should be excited about. She looks comfortable in two key positions that require a lot of communication and leadership. As a setter, she challenged herself to make some athletic plays and showed a wide range of sets. She also directed her hitters well. Defensively, she also was vocal and wasn't afraid to take control.

[player_tooltip player_id='787391' first='Karsyn' last='Ignash'], MB Cass City

A 6'1” middle that comes from a volleyball family, there really is no ceiling for Ignash, as she clearly has a lot of natural power in her game. She could hit the ball as hard as anyone without utilizing a lot of energy. Her timing improved throughout the showcase. As that continues to improve, along with her footwork, she's going to be a dominant player at the net.

Cornelia Friedrich, RS Country Day/Michigan Elite

One of the few left-handed hitters, Friedrich had some of the more impressive swings throughout the Showcase. She can really get off the floor and hang over the net, and she isn't afraid to put her foot on the gas. Sometimes she got too aggressive, but her feel for that will come with more experience. Still, better to have the aggression and know when to not use it, than not have it at all.

[player_tooltip player_id='777685' first='Viera' last='Walker'], S Perkins/Boss

An Ohio setting prospect, Walker took well to her coaching and communicated well with a lot of new hitters. She tried to be aggressive in her sets and push a fast tempo, which she could do with her athleticism. As she continues to work with experienced hitters, Walker should continue to find new levels of play in her game.

[player_tooltip player_id='849430' first='Tori' last='Lewis'], MH WL Western/Legacy

A 5'10” middle with good explosiveness, Lewis didn't need much space at the net to deliver a powerful attack. She may not have the height as some other middles she will be up against, but she's got a long wingspan and anticipates well to be a steady blocking force. Because of her quick swing, she can be a big momentum swinger for her teams.
