About the Series: Prep Dig has teamed up with Avoli, the volleyball brand built specifically for female athletes, to present Committed — a spotlight series celebrating standout athletes at each 2025 Prep Dig Showcase. These athletes are chosen for their leadership, sportsmanship, and relentless work ethic — the same values Avoli champions on and off the court.
Session 2 had an electric intensity about it. The athletes in this session ranged from 2026 through 2029, though they were primarily 2027 and 2026 athletes. One player who immediately stood out from the moment she walked into the gym was [player_tooltip player_id='434920' first='Sierra' last='Hoeft']. She was a spark on the court from pre-showcase queens through the last drill. Sierra exhibited every quality of being an Avoli Committed Athlete. And what really set her apart was the consistency of her play and leadership. She was a 2nd Team All-Conference selection in the Glacier Trails Conference and was the type of player who was hard to take off the court.

Sierra is a natural leader on the court. She commands drills and is always the first one to get drills going. Her love of the game and passion for the sport are evident in every play. What really stands out about Sierra is that she finds a way to make every drill competitive and fun, from a simple setter triangle warm-up to 6 v 6 scrimmages. She leads by example in every sense of the word and never falters.

Sierra is also fearless - when faced with a new drill, she will step in confidently and give it a shot. She isn't afraid to make errors and rebounds quickly when she does. Her ability to move past misakes while learning at the same time really adds a lot of value to anyone on her team. She is a superb communicator as well, who is efficient during plays and a huge motivator and energizer in between them.

Sierra is one of the most positive players you will find on the court. As I mentioned above, the second session of the Exposure Tour featured athletes from all four high school grades. Sierra made connections with athletes from each of them, and when she was on the court, you would have thought she had played with those around her time and again. She had so much positive energy.

Sierra never showed an ounce of frustration when plays didn't go their way or when passes were a bit off. She found a way to make every ball work and then build up her team. She brought energy to the team and individual levels. She would high-five teammates after great plays and build them up after mistakes. Sierra went the extra mile for everyone she played with.

Relentless work ethic

Sierra's entire style of play revolves around grit and hard work. It doesn't matter if she is peppering to warm up, playing in a showcase, or playing in a championship match, Sierra steps on the gas and never lets up. She makes some truly incredible touches on balls simply because of effort alone. She is one of the grittiest players on the court and one who genuinely puts in the time and effort to better herself and those around her.

I have had the opportunity and privilege of covering Sierra throughout her high school and prep career, and what really stands out time and time again is how she consistently embodies the qualities of an Avoli Committed Athlete.
