Early Buzz: Class of 2031 Standouts

The Class of 2031 continues to show just how bright the future of Nevada volleyball can be. From polished ball control and high-level volleyball IQ to aggressive swings and nonstop hustle, these young athletes already stand out in major ways. What makes this group exciting is not just the talent they have now, but how advanced many of them already look for their age. Several of these players are already becoming reliable difference-makers for their teams while still having years of growth ahead of them.    Sunday continues to prove herself as a dependable all-around player capable of making a major impact for her team. She can attack effectively from either pin while mixing up shots with smart tips and aggressive swings. Her serve creates pressure, and she adjusts well to sets whether they are on target or slightly off. As a six-rotation player, Sunday contributes heavily in serve receive and defense while bringing steady value to every phase of the game. —Kantessa Bryant-Miller @prepdignv     Gigi brings versatility, toughness, and energy every time she steps on the court. She has a strong outside hitter swing and is also a tough server capable of creating momentum for her team. Gigi can play either outside or middle and contributes through all six rotations. Defensively, she is willing to sacrifice her body for plays, including pancake saves, while also showing solid middle back defense. She pairs her strong play on the court with success in the classroom as well, carrying a 3.32 GPA. —Kantessa Bryant-Miller @prepdignv     [player_tooltip player_id='938198' first='Mila' last='Ashby'] [player_tooltip player_id='938198' first='Mila' last='Ashby'] already shows advanced natural setting ability for her age. Her clean hands and ability to set accurately from almost anywhere on the court make her a true difference-maker offensively. She mixes up her sets well and understands ball placement at a level that stands out early. Beyond setting, Mila also contributes defensively in the back row and continues proving she can impact the game in multiple phases. —Kantessa Bryant-Miller @prepdignv     Amaya is the definition of a true libero. She plays with nonstop hustle and consistently makes life easier for the players around her through effort, court awareness, and defensive instincts. Already one of the top liberos in the Class of 2031, Amaya reads the game extremely well for her age and tracks down balls all over the court whether they are short, deep, line, or crosscourt. She also serves with purpose and placement while bringing tremendous energy to the back row. Off the court, she carries a perfect 4.0 GPA to match her strong play on the floor. —Kantessa Bryant-Miller @prepdignv     A primary setter and 2025 national champion, Sarai plays a major role in her team's success with her ability to consistently deliver hittable balls and put attackers in positions to score. Her ball placement allows hitters to mix up their shots and be effective in a variety of situations. Beyond her setting ability, she is a versatile athlete who can also contribute as a hitter when needed. Her commitment to development shows outside the gym as well, already clearing 40-inch plyo boxes at just 13 years old. Sarai helped lead her team to a double bid this season and continues to establish herself as one of the more impactful young players in her class. —Kantessa Bryant-Miller @prepdignv     Yoana is an advanced libero who already displays many of the qualities coaches look for at the position. She is a strong platform passer with excellent angles and consistently puts herself in position to control the ball. Her defensive toolbox is well beyond her years, already featuring a confident dolphin dive and the willingness to make hustle plays. From the service line, her deep float serve creates problems for opponents and regularly produces aces. Yoana brings a competitive, high-energy presence to the court, covering a tremendous amount of floor while showing impressive court vision and anticipation.
