Here is a scouting report from the Knights 25-19, 25-16 win over Chase.
The Three Stars of the Game
MH, Payton Hake 5’10” – Hake, a senior, led the Knights in kills with 10. She also added six digs against Chase. She recently made a visit to an NAIA program. She is a strong hitter and solid jumper. She probably tops out as an NAIA recruit, but in-state programs looking for talent she watch her video or see her in person.
OH, Bailee Cunningham, 5’7” – Cunningham, a junior, has some real talent and should be a bonified JUCO recruit. She led the Knights with 12 digs in the match against Chase. She also added six kills. Cunningham as the fastest motor for the Knights and played all over the court.
L, Hailee Thornton , 5’6”– Thornton, also a junior, had a great match. She finished with a team-high 16 digs. She has quick feet and great technique. Thornton would be a solid NAIA or JUCO libero.
Freshman Futures
Lauren Brummet is a freshman to keep tabs on. Brummet was used as a setter and a hitter. Her future position is fluid, but the bottom line is she is a volleyball player. She had four digs and 2 kills in a supplementary role. As she gains experience she will be leaned on for leadership in the coming years.
Two other young players who starred in Lakeside’s junior varsity win were freshman Faith Rustrom and sophomore Kylie Bergman.
Lakeside completed the varsity sweep with a three-set win over Lincoln 25-20, 22-25, 25-8.
