Valley Center went 1-2 in three matches at Maize High School on September 19. Here is a scouting report from their match against Maize.
The Three Stars of the Match
L, Emma Bond, 5’2” – Bond is just a sophomore, but she is the best Libero, I have seen play in person to this point in 2020. She has a low center of gravity and stellar skills. The Hornet Libero finished with 22 digs in the loss to Maize. She has a quality serve and could top out as a DII prospect, but she is still very young. Remember her name as it is sure to be found in the Class of 2023 Prep Dig Kansas rankings when they are released.
OH, Kambry Kirk, 5’8” – Kirk is a junior being leaned on by a Hornet team with just one senior. In the match against Maize she totaled 13 digs, three kills, and one block. Kirk looks like a JUCO prospect.
MH, Dylan Cochran, – Cochran is a sophomore with a huge upside. She had 12 digs, three kills, and two blocks in the 6-25, 23-25 loss to Maize. Her reach is long and her ceiling his high.
The Hornets defeated Hutchinson14-25, 25-21, 25-23, and lost to Kapaun Mt. Carmel 15-25, 21-25 in their other two matches.
