However, we are at this point; Win or Go Home! Let’s take a look at two districts and do our best to predict who will move on in each round and become district champions. The winner of these two districts will face off in sectional play this weekend.
District 13: (1) St. Teresa’s (2) Lee’s Summit (3) Lee’s Summit North (4) Raytown – October 26th and October 28th
St. Teresa’s(9-10) has the history. They have made frequent trips to the state tournament over the years. They have not shied away from competition this fall, playing some of the top teams in not just the region but the country. They are getting a dynamic season from senior Maggie McInerney Maggie McInerney 6'1" | OH St. Teresa's Academy | 2021 State MO on the pins. Kayla Smocks has been steady from her back-row position. Lee’s Summit is having a strong season as their 19-5 record shows. They are getting good play from numerous contributors like Kendall Boone and Makya Clayton. Lee’s Summit North has had a rough go in 2020. They are 6-19 on the year and have received consistent play from Taylor Bailey, Paige Huhman Paige Huhman MB Lee's Summit North | 2021 State MO , and Maddie Sibbing. Raytown will be the fourth seed and final team in this district.
St. Teresa’s should make easy work of Raytown. Lee’s Summit should end North’s season in the other match. The final will be one to keep your eye on. St. Teresa’s swept Lee’s Summit earlier this season. This Lee’s Summit team is a different team from the first match up. When we were watching a game last week we saw middle Jordan Stout go down during the match. If she is healthy this match will be closer than the first match. We think St. Teresa’s schedule and experience will be enough to carry them to a district title.
District 15: (1) Liberty North (2) Liberty (3) Park Hill South (4) North Kansas City – October 26th and October 28th
The district of death is what we will call this one. There are three teams when on their game have the potential to win this district. The clubhouse leader will be 17-0 Liberty North. They have had a memorable run behind the play of Isabel Zimmerman Isabel Zimmerman 6'2" | RS Liberty North | 2022 State #30 Nation MO and Addison Beagle Addison Beagle 5'9" | S Liberty North | 2022 State MO . Liberty (17-5) has been there before though. Last year’s third-place finisher returns a team with championship experience. What makes the Blue Jays an interesting team to watch is a late-season lineup change that gives them more height and offense on the front line. Madi Corf Madi Corf 5'11" | OH Liberty High School | 2022 MO has played extremely well down the stretch. Bailee Middleton Bailee Middleton 5'10" | DS/L Liberty | 2021 State MO has moved to the libero position from her outside role. Park Hill South (9-10) has shown the ability to contend late in the season after missing a couple of weeks of their season. They are led by Arley Anderson Arley Anderson 5'4" | DS/L Park Hill South | 2021 State MO and her 2,000 career assist and middle Alex Dvorak Alex Dvorak 6'1" | MB Park Hill South | 2022 State MO . North Kansas City (7-15-4) hasn’t had the year they expected after the strong 2019 campaign. They still are a dangerous team with the likes of Calissa Minatee Calissa Minatee 6'0" | MB North Kansas City | 2023 State #25 Nation MO .
Liberty North is a lock to win the battle against North Kansas City. We believe Liberty will hold seed and takedown Park Hill South in a close battle. The battle of Liberty will be the finale. Liberty North has defeated Liberty twice this season. At this point in the season, everyone is 0-0. We believe it is tough to beat a team three times in a row so we will go with the number 2 seed heading to sectionals.
