The Blue Valley West Jaguars won the state championship by knocking off Olathe Northwest in straight sets 25-21, 25-17.
Here is scouting reports from the deep Jaguars roster.
OH, Taylor Stockman, 5’11” – Stockman is in the Class of 2022 and has a lot of high school ball ahead of her. Already she is one of the better hitters in Kansas. Stockman had 11 kills in the championship victory. She just pounds the ball. She had 228 kills entering the Class 6A State Tournament. She played just the front row for the Jaguars during the five matches. Stockman went “Beast Mode” in the semifinal victory over Garden City with double-digit kills.
S, Alyssa Miller Alyssa Miller 5'10" | S Blue Valley Northwest | 2021 State KS , 5’10” (’21 Ranked No. 8) – Miller is a fantastic setter with an accurate quick release. In the State Title game, she amassed 13 assists, three kills, and four blocks. Miller has committed to play Division I Volleyball at Dayton University. She led Class 6A with 699 assists before the State Tournament. She passed the ball effectively during the State Tournament and helped the Jaguars earn the No. 1 seed for semifinal play. She also has the scariest serve on the BV West squad.
DS, Berit Jones, 5’9” – Jones’ engine does not stop and she is great communicator on the court. In the title game win over Olathe West she finished with 10 digs and three service receives. The junior had 166 kills and 228 digs heading into State play. She has really quick feet and is always in a position to get a dig and start a rally. Jones is a hard-worked in the classroom with a current GPA of 3.9.
L, Morgan Colangelo , 5’5” – Gritty, spunky, there are just not enough ways to describe the Jaguar junior libero. At 5’5’, Colangelo is not tall, but she is a big-time leader for the Blue Valley West. She came up big in the 6A title contest with 15 digs and seven serve receptions. She has a hard serve and is just a solid defensive player. She would be great fit for a JUCO program and has a current GPA of 3.5.
