Continue ReadingIt is that time of the year where we here at Prep Dig update our class rankings! This edition brings you the class of 2024. Our top 10 had little movement and no change at the top, with Skyler Pierce Skyler Pierce 6'3" | OH Olathe Northwest | 2024 State #4 Nation KS still rated as our top prospect following an impressive sophomore campaign that included another trip to the state tournament. We have three good setters in our top 10, including two in the top 5.
This isn’t an easy process and players get missed. Our friend at Prep Dig, Chris Fitzgerald posted a great article sharing what goes into our ranking system here. Our rankings don’t dictate future success as a volleyball player or person. These rankings are subjective but we feel with the hours spent dedicated to this process, we are on the right track. With that said, here are our updated Top 10 for the class of 2024.
1. Skyler Pierce Skyler Pierce 6'3" | OH Olathe Northwest | 2024 State #4 Nation KS – 6’1″ – OH – Olathe Northwest/Dynasty
There’s not much to add to what is already known, Pierce is elite and the cream of the crop in the state as a six rotation pin. She is still getting better defensively to match her offensive skills. She will keep getting stronger and still may grow. She had 425 kills and 345 digs in her all-state season.
2. Jillian Huckabey Jillian Huckabey 6'0" | OH Olathe Northwest | 2024 State #74 Nation KS – 6’0″ – OH – Olathe Northwest/ KC Power
Pierce wasn’t the only standout in Olathe Northwest’s return trip to state in 2021. Huckabey continues to show she’s among one of the top pins in not just her class but the state. She delivered with 249 kills and 282 digs on the year. She earned second-team All-State honors.
3. Julia Headley Julia Headley 6'2" | MB St. James | 2024 State #103 Nation KS – 6’2″ – MB – St. James/ KC Power
Headley is one of the top middles in the state of all classes in our opinion. She received her third invite to the USA National Team Development Program this winter. Not only is that impressive but add in the fact she’s training with the 18u group as a sophomore shows her skill level as determined by scouts.
4. Janelle Green Janelle Green 5'9" | S Blue Valley North | 2024 State #68 Nation KS – 5’9″ – S – Blue Valley North/ KC Power
State champion is the newest title earned by Green after a strong year from the setter/pin positions. She ran an efficient offense with a player we’ll talk about next week in a 6-2. She accumulated 527 assists and 239 digs on the year. She took swings from the right side and garnered 117 kills on the way to second-team All-State honors.
5. Camdyn Stucky Camdyn Stucky 6'1" | S Maize South | 2024 State #97 Nation KS – 6’1″ – S – Wichita Northwest/Shockwave
Stucky is another premier setter who displayed her versatility this fall for a strong Wichita Northwest team that earned a trip to the state tournament. At 6’1″, she provides great length to the setter position and prospects there in our opinion for the next level. She had 154 assists, 162 digs, and 189 kills in 2021.
6. Cy Rae Campbell Cy Rae Campbell 5'11" | MB Heritage Christian | 2024 State #45 Nation KS – 5’11” – OH/MB – Heritage Christian/Dynasty
Campbell is among the elite athletes in this class. She plays much bigger than her measurements as evidenced by helping lead Heritage Christian to another state title in 2021. Campbell forms a tremendous duo with our 7th ranked player and they are essentially interchangeable in our rankings. This fall, she delivered with 274 kills and 80 digs.
7. Rachel Van Gorp Rachel Van Gorp 5'9" | OH Heritage Christian | 2024 State #94 Nation KS – 5’10” – OH – Heritage Christian/ KC Power
As shared above, Van Gorp was clutch in helping HCA move up a class and take home the state title. The Class 3A player of the year in 2021, she is continuing to make strides in her game. 382 kills to lead the team, along with 232 digs.
8. Tatum Grimes Tatum Grimes 6'2" | MB St. Thomas Aquinas | 2024 State #184 Nation KS – 6’1″ – MB – St. Thomas Aquinas/ KC Power
All-State honorable mention in 2021, Grimes stepped up big for a traditionally strong St. Thomas Aquinas program. She showed great poise in her sophomore year and delivered with 171 kills and 83 total blocks.
9. Gracie Morrow Gracie Morrow 5'11" | OH Maize South | 2024 State KS – 5’11” – OH – Maize South/Shockwave
After earning honorable mention All-State in class 5, Morrow slides into the top 10 for these updated rankings. For Maize South, she hit at a blistering .336 percentage this fall. She had 208 kills to average 3 per set on the year.
10. Ava Martin Ava Martin 5'10" | S Bishop Miege | 2024 State #77 Nation KS – 5’10” – S – Bishop Miege/Dynasty
Martin slides into the top 10 after a strong fall for Class 4 Bishop Miege. Leading a fairly young team, she helped lead this team back to the state tournament after navigating a tough regular season. She earned second-team All-State honors dishing out 661 assists and adding 177 digs.
