FaR Out 15 Black is certainly included in that discussion.
Thus far they are 13-1, avenging their only loss while also winning the 15 Open of the MLK Ft. Lauderdale Invitational a few weeks ago.
With a mix of 2025-26 players, this group is clicking thus far.
FaR Out 15 Black
Jeff Butler is head coach of the squad, with the core back from a group that was 14 Premier runner-up at the AAU Nationals last season.
Mallory Johnson Mallory Johnson 5'9" | S Livonia Churchill | 2025 State MI is staying back with the 15s this year to play libero. The 2025 prospect will provide a lot of leadership at the position and gives FaR Out a consistent and timely player in the back row. Annalise Clark Annalise Clark 5'4" | DS/L Lowell | 2026 State MI is a fellow DS that will provide depth to the defense as a 2026 prospect out of Lowell, as will Cara Wolf Cara Wolf 5'7" | DS/L Grand Rapids Catholic Central | 2026 State MI , a 2026 DS from the Grand Rapids Catholic Central program. This team certainly won’t back lacking in ball control.
FaR Out 15 Black also features a lot of diverse hitters that can move around the lineup. Amelia Gagnon Amelia Gagnon 5'5" | DS/L West Catholic | 2026 State MI is a 2025 outside that has a very crisp defensive game as well. Karis Chatfield Karis Chatfield 5'11" | OH Jenison | 2026 State MI , Maggie Szlachic, Quinn Yenshaw Quinn Yenshaw 6'0" | OH Traverse City St. Francis | 2026 State MI and Finley Arp Finley Arp 6'0" | OH South Christian | 2026 State MI are all pin hitters that can play on either side of the net. Arp is coming off a strong showing at the Division 2 state semifinals for South Christian and looks like a breakout candidate this year.
In the middle Josie Noble Josie Noble 6'2" | MB Caledonia | 2025 State MI and Alana Bailey Alana Bailey 6'0" | MB East Kentwood | 2025 State MI provide a lot of complimentary power and athleticism to the diverse outsides. Each brings good length and timing to the position.
Rylie Barriger Rylie Barriger 5'7" | S Lowell | 2026 State MI and Emma Duffy Emma Duffy 5'6" | S Lakewood | 2026 State MI are the setters on the squad and both can handle running a fast offense and utilize the different strengths of their hitters. They are able to really get this offense clicking when the serve receive is on point.
The sky seems to be the limit for this squad. They clearly have a lot of confidence from early success this club season. As each tournament brings in some new competition, it will be interesting to see how FaR Out handles some adversity.
Coming off a strong 2022, the large portion of this group has grown accustomed to winning. That’s a hard habit for opponents to break.
