Shelby-Rising City with be represented by Jamie Hopwood who had 513 digs this fall for the Huskies. The Crossroads All-Stars will be coached by Kari Jo Alfs of BDS and assisted by Darcy White of Exeter-Milligan.
I visited with Darcy White about how the first practice went and she said there maybe some girls playing out of position a bit because they only have one true middle, but the are a bunch of nice athletes and they stressed to them to be flexible because they could be playing positions they are not used to. Both her and Alfs feel it will be a very competitive match.
The Goldenrod Conference All-Stars will feature Nebraska Christian’s Carsyn Ostrand who had 195 kills this year, 34 aces, 224 digs and 668 assists. She will be joined by teammate Adrienne Falk sho had 49 ace serves this fall for the Eagles. Central Valley will be represented by middle hitter Devyn Erickson who had 264 kills this year, Colby Grossart who had 426 set assists and Jadie Rother who had 157 kills. Riverside is represented by Alix Bloom who had 186 kills for the Chargers this fall and Morgan Haschke who had 201 kills and 37 service aces. Tara Foltz is representing Humphrey St. Francis. The Goldenrod All-Stars are coached by Nebraska Christian’s Tonya Ostrand and is assisted by Megan Helberg of Burwell.
A matchup that will be intriguing will be between White and Ostrand on the floor, both are tremendous athletes who are also coach’s daughters. They both have great court vision and are very versatile, competitive players. Look for those two girls to lead their respective teams. The All-Star game plays four sets regardless and last year’s match was an all out brawl with Crossroads defeating the Goldenrod 25-23, 20-25, 27-25, and 25-23.
