Triple Crown was, yet again, one for the books.
The talent on display and the epic match-ups throughout the convention center did not disappoint.
Still reeling from all of the fun, let’s take a look at some of the biggest performers from the tournament. Who were the fab five liberos in the 18s division this year?
Dakota Conway – COAST
In a come from behind victory in the title game, one of the biggest stars on the court for Coast was their libero, Dakota Conway. Holding it down up against some of the most physical attackers in the country, her touch on the ball was so timely and on point.
Greta Brown – Club V
En route to Club V’s third place finish at TC, much of that is thanks to Greta Brown in the back court. A scrappy defender and rock solid receiver, Brown’s ability to keep the pace of the game proved huge for V. She was always up for the challenge and stepped it up in the big games.
Mya Bolton – KC Power
Another impact ‘bro, Mya Bolton was huge all weekend long for KC Power . Bolton was all over the court all weekend long. Her defense was timely and her passing is some of the best in the field. Power ended the tournament with one of the highest point percentages in the 18s division. This can be attributed to Bolton’s highlight play.
Coley Shiflet – Triangle
Coley Shiflet has been one of my favorite ‘bros in this division for a few years now. in her final go-around in Kansas City at Triple Crown left no crumbs. She’s a talented player that will go on to do big things at Houston. Her scrappiness and go-get-it demeanor is very reminiscent of a current Cougar star, Kate Georgiades.
Mykayla McMillion – Houston Skyline
This wasn’t the best weekend for Houston Skyline in terms of finishes. But one thing definitely was shining and that was the play of MyKayla McMillion. She’s another one of those players that I have not got to see in action very much. I did this weekend however and was a fan of what I saw. She was very much acting as the glue to this group.
