Looking at the top two outsides on our list, you won’t find two hitters that have put their respective teams on their back more than Navea Gauthier Navea Gauthier 6'1" | OH Shelby | 2025 State #56 Nation MI and Isabelle Busignani Isabelle Busignani 6'1" | OH Marian | 2025 State #73 Nation MI . Gauthier has 2,615 kills in her three-year prep career at Shleby, taking nearly 6,000 swings in that time. Last year she surpassed the 1,000-kill mark and could set the MHSAA career record for kills by the time her senior season is over. Even with all these swings, Gauthier still hits over .320. She’s already an Ohio State commit. Busignani is the workhorse for Marian, helping lead the Mustangs to the D1 state title in the fall of 2022. Over her sophomore and junior seasons, Busignani had nearly 1,200 kills while hitting over .300 in both seasons. Her defensive play is underrated as well, as Izzy has put a lot of time and effort into becoming a complete player. She’s already committed to play at Cincinnati.
Rising stars
Three hitters inside the top 10 have really elevated their game in the last year. Marie Laurio Marie Laurio 5'10" | OH Saline | 2025 State #147 Nation MI has dialed up another gear this club season with Legacy. The Syracuse commit has been putting down some of the most impressive kills in the 17U division this winter. She’s playing with a high level of confidence and becoming a dominant force. Sarah Bradley Sarah Bradley 6'0" | OH Everest Collegiate | 2025 State MI really turned some heads during the Division 4 state finals when she propelled Everest Collegiate to a magical title run. Bradley has great power and a great engine that should lead her to finding a home at the next level eventually. She’s got the drive and desire to be great. Addison Newblatt Addison Newblatt 5'9" | OH Clarkston | 2025 State MI overcame injuries over the last year to finally show her potential for Clarkston last fall. The Fordham commit can dial-up a fastball with the best of them and she does a great job of riding the positive momentum she creates. Newblatt has the explosiveness and tenacity to push her team to success.
Defensive standouts
Being able to power home a kill is a big part of being a top outside, but having elite defensive skills can certainly go a long way as well. Jessica Costlow Jessica Costlow 5'11" | OH SMCC | 2025 State #142 Nation MI is a great representation of that. She’s got all the offensive tools to succeed on the court, but her commitment to being a standout defender and passer makes her a great asset. The SMCC product is committed to Toledo and her adaptability and diverse skillset should lead her to a lot of success in the MAC. Molly Reck Molly Reck 5'10" | OH Northville | 2025 State MI is another player that has a complete game. She’s as good defensively as she is offensively, mainly because she’s got a lot of court awareness. The Northville product is committed to Oakland because she can pass at a high rate and put down the ball at a high rate. Her competitive fire drives her toward being the best, and it shows in her improved play. Kacee Gray Kacee Gray 5'7" | OH Cass City | 2025 State MI has been a key piece to Cass City’s success the last two years. While she can put down the ball at a high rate, it’s her defensive play that has been very valuable to her team. Gray challenges herself to keep her team in-system and is able to translate quickly from an offensive mindset to a defensive one.
