A basketball team can’t take the ball down the court without a point guard and a volleyball team can’t finish off plays without a setter. A good setter can make or break the team. Usually a setter is a leader on the court and controls the flow of the game. They demand hard work from their teammates and save them during hard times. Here are 5 stellar setters all within the top 20 of class 2021 ranking list:
Kami Miner- Mizuno Long Beach
Miner is the number one recruit in this class. Her coaches say all of her characteristics as a volleyball player, leader, student, etc are all 10/10. Standing at a dominant 6’0 she earned 2019 SoCal Player of the year awards as well as co-Player of the year for Division 1 Southern Section. Her stats were extremely impressive with 826 assists, 141 kills, 221 digs, and 97 aces. She remains uncommitted but there is no doubt that Miner will be one of the greatest setters in the NCAA. I also predict a bright future for USA Volleyball with her in it.
Taylor Simpson- Sunshine
Simpson has a very impressive volleyball resume. Standing at 5’11 she dished out 952 assists during the 2019 season, 175 digs, 185 digs, and 80 aces. She is a dominant setter that earned her a spot on the top ranking list for the class of 2021. It also got her on the All-American MaxPreps list. She is committed to Colorado and will definitely make an impact in the PAC-12
Molly Wilson- Forza 1
Wilson is also 5’11 and very skilled. Her stats for the 2019 season included 891 assists, 204 digs, 78 kills, and 41 aces. There were many dominant performances during the year that Molly led the team to victory. One of these performances includes the upset of Torrey Pines where Wilson was said to be a catalyst of the victory. She is committed to the University of Washington.
Adrina Tang– Vision
Tang does a really good job of representing Northern California and the talent they also have up there. As a 5’8 setter she is very quick, athletic, and smart. She was on Varsity as a Freshman and was named one of the top freshmen on Varsity when she was younger. Now she is older, faster, and wiser too. Tallying a whopping 987 assists, 175 digs, 72 kills, and 57 aces landed her on the All-League team. She is not committed to any colleges yet, so (college coaches) snatch her up while you can!
Rachel Fairbanks- Tstreet
Fairbanks had a phenomenal high school season as well as the 2019 club season where she helped lead her team to a gold medal at JO Nationals. She finished her high school season with 775 assists, 162 kills with a .365 hitting percentage, 203 digs, and 83 aces. She has recently committed to the University of Pittsburgh where I know she will have a huge impact within the program immediately.
